View Full Version : What're you watching?

What anime are you in the process of watching (or if you're not watching any, what was the last one)? I'm curious to know what it is and what you think of it. :)

For me it's Black Lagoon. I'm liking it quite a bit. Can't really say much more about it than that, but I like the feel of it. Kinda has a Cowboy Bebop vibe to it with the heavy smoking and odd job mercenary crew and everything.

Lots of gunfights. I like that. :D

Le Chevalier D'eon.

It's about this french dude who turns into his dead sister everytime he gets caught in a swordfight. He works as a spy or something for Marie Antoinette and apparently it's based off a real figure named D'eon Beaumont or something who was convinced that he was meant to be born female <_<

It has its moments, quite historical, the plot is mediocre, character design is off putting and for something based off of so many events they manage to bring a whole lot of freaky/mystical shit into it.

The only reason I continue watching is because the ending theme is superb. The best anime song I've seen this far. I should really just download it instead of waiting for every episode to end -.-'

Death Note, it seems more interesting than your average "hero-kills-bad-guy-and-gets-girl" formula of most anime.

I'm going to give Eureka 7 another chance, since my friend tells me it's good and the only episodes I've seen were a few on AS.

Voices of a Distant Star

It was short, but it was pretty emotional at the end.

the begining has a mix or romance and fighting, but moves purely to fighting, with a romantic end.

just finished watching black lagoon. great stuff. some of the bestest and most awesomest characters i've ever seen. :D

i'm kinda having trouble finding a new one to watch. currently i'm watching something called shakugan no shana. it seems okay...sort of interesting so far, but it's just kinda meh. i'm only on the first couple of episodes though.

i'm also looking into he is my master and maybe picking up where i left off with rozen maiden.

i'm watching monster.

it's pretty good.. however its got a lot of filler i guess. theres a central story arch and then theres other shit thats getting tied together all the time (sometimes it jumps in for a whole episode out of nowhere).. had i been watching this while it was released id probably not have such a great time with it, but since i have the luxury of just going from episode to episode to end on some substance its ok.

i like the art style.

the story surrounds a surgeon and the life of a boy he saved (but its a little crazier than that sounds).

i'd say if you have a taste for something a little more grounded then this is a good bet. there are hit men and secret societies.. neo nazis (its set in germany). all and all i would recommend it.

I realy don't watch too much anime these days(prefer manga). But I just recently watched the first 60 eps of Bleach for the first time, and enjoyed it alot. It didn't realy appeal to me for a long time, but I just kinda forced myself to get through a couple, then just couldn't stop. It's a pretty stereotipical Shounen, but there's just too many badass characters to stop watching now >.< *cough"Kisuke*cough*

^^

I was talkin about Kisuke Urahara. I didn't mention his sword.. But In the anime I watched he called it Benihime or somthing.. It isn't the dubbed version that I'm watching, it just has subtitles.

Or are you saying that his sword is called somthing different than Benihime in the manga? I wasn't quite sure if you thought that I called Urahara's sword Kisuke...

Anyways, how is the manga compared to the Japense version of the Anime? I'd assume it has quite a few differences, but I'm not sure how much.

Started watching School Days.

I'm on episode 6... Fuck it's depressing me for so many reasons. Ito is such a dense and indecisive cunt it's astounding. :(

Next day edit: Holy fuck. I just finished it. Ito squandered what I will never get, and as such I despise him.

But the ending was just fucked. Fucking fuck. Good show, but God DAMN. :o

I was watching Bokura ga Ita (lal sappy romance anime), but I couldn't get myself to watch the last episode because I was afraid to find out what happened. :(

Just watched Paprika a week ago, that shit was crazy. Wasn't an exactly a series, it was a movie (but still anime).

I'm now I'm in the process of reading the Naruto manga. Waiting for the English scans of the latest chapter to come out right now actually. :p

Yeah.

I tried watching Outlaw Star once because I heard it was like Cowboy Bebop which was a pretty cool show. I couldn't really stand it. It was watchable but I never felt like going back to watching it. I gave it a chance for eight episodes but it never really picked up so I stopped watching it. I think the last anime I watched was Death Note and that was a while ago but it was pretty good, especially at the beginning.

I just finished watching this. What made me watch it is because I like it's setting and art (Production I.G.). The opening and closing songs are also great as you have mentioned. Meanwhile, the plot is quite flawed and hard to understand. It is also not that historically accurate like the Louis XVI in the series is the son of Louis XV which is actually not the case. If you liked this, the Rose of Versailles is worth checking out though I haven't watched it.

I also just finished Fate/Stay Night...
On the process of watching R.O.D. the TV...

Not watching anything right now. I was watching Monster, but I found it to be really boring, so I quit. I heard good things about it, so I might give it another go.

I was also watching Fruits Basket, but stopped watching it at ep. 15. I need to start watching it again. I still have to finish watching Trigun (24), and Evangelion (21).

I heard that the Rose of Versailles was an inspiration for this, is it much like Revolutionary Girl Utena? Someone said they were quite similar.

Also, I've finally downloaded the ending theme 'Overnight' by Aya and have had it on a continuous loop. I'm so gay haha.

Yup. Is it much like Revolutionary Girl Utena. Some even note that Oscar (Rose of Versailles) is the first "Revolutionary Girl". I haven't watched both of them though since my internet connection is slow... Hehe!

Ergo Proxy. Although I haven't watched any of it for a bit, because it's started to degrade into some sort of generic giant freaking monster crap. The first 5-6 episodes had this cool grim feel - with some monstrous characters popping in, but now it's into single-combat between monster-avatars, and I find it hard to care.

For me it's Black Lagoon. I'm liking it quite a bit. Can't really say much more about it than that, but I like the feel of it. Kinda has a Cowboy Bebop vibe to it

Black Lagoon was awesome. Surely my #2 anime (after Cowboy Bebop).

I've only ever watched one anime that I enjoyed, Hellsing. Watched one episode of Cowboy Bebop, thought it was ok, pretty boring. Watched 2 episodes of Trigun, thought it was boring. Full Metal Alchemist was really gay, watched like 2 episodes of that. Also I saw a couple of episodes of Naruto at a friend's house, and that was honestly probably the gayest thing I've ever seen.

I try to keep an open mind and watch them, because my friend tells me "well, you'll like x anime it's so awesome...." all the time, but japanese cartoons on the whole are pretty gay. What's the deal with this fascination by japanese cartoons? Western cartoons kick a lot more ass. Metalocalypse, south park, family guy, aqua teen hunger force, fuck me I'd rather watch Captain Planet than most of the anime I see.

I'll agree that the West does comedy a lot better than Japan, but you should give CB, Trigun, and FMA another chance. Especially seeing as how the first two episodes of FMA were out of order and actually take place around episode 10.
