i think that saying is because when our country was created all of the other countries in the world were oppressive monarchies with the exception of napoleonic france and they didn't even come about till a few years after us. americans like to pretend that we still hold a similar position but obviously things have flipped somewhat.

We had one during 9/11 and everyone thought, "oh my god, we're doomed", but we made it through. I still remember people around here running to the gas station because they thought gas was gonna skyrocket and running to the grocery store to stock up on food and supplies because they thought prices were gonna skyrocket.

Now, the failed wars are Bush's fault who people like you believe is backed by God. The falling dollar is the Fed's fault for fucking with the economy like they always do. The mortgage crisis is because of dumbass banks lending money out to people they knew couldn't pay them back.
