I'm currently working in a Spanish high school for 9 months, teaching English conversation. It's good fun, though the students in general have quite a low level of English. I imagine it would be easier in a country like Germany or Sweden where it seems like people realize the importance of speaking English and actually have motivation, but Spain is still cool.
Well, anyway, has anyone else done this and/or does anyone have any ideas for conversation/listening activities to do with adolescents aged 13-18?

Aye, I started English at age 10.
I don`t have ideas for you though, good luck on that.
as long as 90% of the britains and americans who come to spain are 90% drunk of the time the motivation to learn english won´t grow ..

Because everyone learns a language to talk to tourists.
by using basic mathematic knowledge you can see that 10% are tourists, the rest is drunken scum ..

Spanish is easy to learn. Most useful phrase; "Oi! Senor le waiter! Uno pinto L.A.G.E.R, comprendezvoo, chop chop o!
Or
"Senorita, how-o about-o uno jig-ajig-o darling?"
L.A.G.E.R
lmao
squint-eyed spelling it loud as if the waiter was deaf with index and thumb pressed together making conductor movements after each letter, a hat of straws on his head and shoulders coloured like a cooked pig with a vest on it laying on the street 2 hours later with a wet crotch ..
the 10% time they are not drunk is the way from bed to breakfast table with slitted eyes and rabbit slippers ..

I've never taught it, but I've watched in on ESL classes a couple years back.
It's quite interesting actually, English is such a shitty language to learn if it's not your native language. I wouldn't be able to teach kids the language because I would have no clue where to start. xD
http://www.eslflow.com/ is a nice site though if you're looking for ideas, there's worksheets on there and stuff for all levels of teaching English (elementary level, pre-intermediate, ect..)

You practise it on tourists, sure, but I doubt that's the sole reason they learn it :p. But you never know I guess. Japs are weird.
