was soooo much better than today!
take F1 for example, Gilles veiulneurve ( sp!!??!) Alian Prost, Nikky Lauda and Ayrton senna al made for a good few years!
all the drivers were far more talented, none of this abs and tractioncontrol bullshit we see today, tho dnt get me wonrg, the current drivers are still very talanted. Just put them in Senna's maclaren and watch them die a shitty death! And safety, bollocks to safety!!
Rallying, group B, i need say more!
in a nut shell, modern motor sport sucks, it was beter in the golden days!

And safety, bollocks to safety!!
that's what I'm talking about. What kind of Le Mans is it when the drivers don't get to run from the side and into their cars like the good ol' days? safety hazard my ass.

Yeah, the only 90's racing I've really watched is from F1 decade on speed channel and it was good. But the talent in F1 now isn't too bad with all these young guys coming up. I think F1 is in for a good year. Plus, they're doing away with traction control pretty soon. Now if they would just come back to Indy...
And what happened to rallying? I never see it anymore, I used to love that shit.

rallying isnt worth the time watching anymore,
unless you can get to see the ole group B stuff rallying!
the WRC is going strong loeb is still at the top * shock!! * but it is far better to watch than F1!
Yeah, althoug I was really to young fr early 90s stuff. Only really saw from 97 season onwards. Used to love Schumi and Hakkinnen and Murray Walker. Excellent combination.

Case of rose tinted glasses me thinks.
F1 isn't any better or worse than it used to be, although rallying is no where near the spectacle it was in the Group B days. Not because of the cars but the way the FIA has curtailed most events and banished night stages for a long time (slowly making a comeback at least). The most unforgivable action was axing the Safari Rally, bastards.
If you look at the numbers, in say passes for the lead and number of overtakes in a season then the 90s really were not miles apart from the 00s. The last true 'golden era' would have been the 80s, in my opinion any way.
Not quite sure why you've mentioned Gilles Villeneuve in a 90s thread considering he died in 1982. Unless you meant his son, Jacques?
The only series that was genuinely better in the 90s was CART, before the split. I'd argue it was even better than F1 at its peak. Then Tony George came along and fucked it all up.
Anyone who says that drivers are less talented now clearly doesn't know what they're talking about. The cars are faster, the reactions need to be quicker and there's a hell of a lot more information that needs to be processed in the cockpit thanks to the evolution of tyres and electronics.
The only thing I don't like about modern motorsport is the fact that many drivers are locked into contracts that prohibit them from competing elsewhere. Long gone are the days a Jim Clark could enter F1, Le Mans, NASCAR and the Indy 500 all on a whim and that's a shame because the true racers really shon when given different equipment.

yeah, my bad. the 80's and 90's! hehe!!
since group B was where it was at, and like you said, the night stages!
tho F1 was better back then simly due to the rivalry that existed compared to today. e.g. all the shit about alsono and hamilton, they should look back to 1982 with Villeneuve and pironi from Imola and mainly zolder.
