Well, my brother's dog is retarded and doesn't get away from the cars when we pull into the driveway. He also likes to jump up and take a peak at who is in the car while scratching the doors.

My idea is to create some type of transmitter that could run off of 12 VDC and broadcast in the frequency that his collar is already operating on. I installed the fence myself, and I think that it operates on what normally is an AM frequency because it suggested finding a break in the wire with an AM radio set to AM-60 or AM-600. The idea is that the dogs will learn to not go within 10 feet of the car when it pulls into the drive way.

Also, do you think the collars are dependent on having a specific tone that is broadcasted where a AM radio station wouldn't set it off? I am thinking I may be able to replicate the box nailed to the wall with some components and a piece of silicon board. Also, I just found out the original box runs off of 12VDC, so that is good. My last question regards being able to get the signal to broadcast around the car properly, so the signal isn't canceled out from a bad type of antennae and it only jolts the dog if it is too close.

I haven't ever fiddled with radio before so I am trying to cover all my bases.

I hope it is clear that I already have an invisible fencing system installed, and my goals are clear. I didn't have much luck in DIY.

So you want the car to have the same kind of thing that establishes the signal on the buried fence?

Why can't you just buy and rig it to the car?
