My youngest got a new cell phone today. I got his 2 day old cast off ( "If I press these numbers will someone talk to me?").

But of course I'm still getting SMS's for him.

Goodnight Humanity, been nice knowing you. Would the last literate person please return my library books, feed the goldfish and close the door?

Thank you.

There is a T9 (http://www.t9.com/) word feature on most cellphones.

That not only shows the lack of respect for language, but the stupidity of the user for not taking advantage of the word completion feature.

This is why I refuse to get a cell phone. They're really unnecessary.

I know. I don't know how many of the kiddies realise this, but it's actually faster to ‘type’ out the whole word using word completion/dictionary functions than it is to use half of these weird arse abbreviations and acronyms. And you’re less likely to receive an embarrassing and abusive phone call ten minutes later from a confused parent asking ‘what the fuck do you mean by that?!’

Ah the deterioration of our youth.

I'm not sure if I'm comforted by the fact that the U.S isn't the only one full of airheaded, instant-gratification-seeking spoiled kittens, or if I'm scared for the world.

Ah well.

I don't mind SMS messages like that as there is a character limit.

It's about saving pocket money.

What really gets on my tits is when people type like that over the Internet, like on Totse, or MSN.

Oh, c'mon. Don't be stodgy guys.
Language change is natural.
The kid got his message across, and that's all that really matters in communication, but you guys are all being like
"that's not the way they did it back in my day mwof soap box mwof mwof mwof mwof mwof ...."
