What do you wear around your neck, or on your shirt or other items of clothing that represent how you feel about your faith?

Do you wear a crucifix, or a Buddhist symbol around your neck? Or perhaps some sort of Pagan symbol?

Do you wear a shirt that says "I love Jesus" or "Jesus Is A Cunt" ?

I personally wear a Mjolnir (Thors Hammer) around my neck on a chain, to show my faith in the Aesir. (I'm Odinist)

I thought this might be an interesting thread.

So share what you wear!

I have a cross, the prayer of St Benedict as well as a Dove with the Holy Family on the opposite side on the chain I usually wear under my shirt. I lost my faith for a few years, experimented with other philosophies, but nothing really felt right except for Christianity, to me. I was baptized a Methodist, occasionally went to Church, and went to a Catholic school for elementary. I have a pretty broad knowledge of the Christian faith and it's various sects, although I don't consider myself any of them. Just sort of...a univeralist I suppose.

If I wore anything regarding my beliefs I would get beaten or killed, almost have once for wearing a Jesus is a Cunt shirt.
But I have a pentagram ring and a baphomet ring (which I don't wear that often 'cos it doesn't fit me all that well)

I wear a Saint Jude medallion for a variety of reasons.

1) well I am Catholic and Jude's my saint name
2) My brother's autistic and Saint Jude is the patron saint of lost causes, and I've, unfortunately, heard that kind of language used about my brother way too much.
3) Back to the lost causes thing, I can look down at it and back away from the whatever bad thing is happening and try to see the hope in it.

EDIT:
If I wore anything regarding my beliefs I would get beaten or killed, almost have once for wearing a Jesus is a Cunt shirt.

well, that's just really asking for trouble, but does anyone else think that it's ironic for a Christian to threaten/beat up someone with that on?

Yes, it's ironic. He's still a jackass for doing it.

No more than someone wearing a peice of jewlry that displays their belief in zombies.

I applaud you for doing it. A friend of mine had a bumper sticker that said "too many christians, not enough lions". People (I assume christians) would ride his ass, flip him off, and honk their horns.

Interesting-- this morning I decided to start a thread just like this one.

I have some more or less religious tattoos--on my right forearm, a lightning bolt going through a pentagram, a souvenir of my pagan days, plus the right eye of Horus and the Egyptian sun eagle on my right upper arm. And a tat of Kokopelli on my chest for good measure.

Some time ago, I started to wear a cross stud earring, mostly as an ironic joke, since I hear the word "Christian," and I usually associate it with oppression of women and gays, pedophile priests, the Burning Times, charming stuff like that. Lately--even though I am a country mile away from being Christian--I have gained a lot of respect for Jesus as the highly evolved man he was, and for the wisdom of his teachings.

If I thought for a second that he could articulate precisely why he felt that Jesus was a cunt, then sure. Somehow though, I doubt it has anything to do with philosophical and ethical determinations on the nature and worthiness of the Christ. I'm gonna bet it's a jackass teenager who thinks arbitrarily pissing off people is virtue.

And for the record, I don't think that Jesus was a cunt, but alot of Christians are.

lots of people think this as well.

As for what items of faith I wear, I wear nothing pertaining to religion in any way which pretty much is a good representation of my beliefs.

Agnosticism FTW.

Off topic, but why on earth is "cunt" used as a pejorative, especially by teenage boys who have zero experience with them?

Cunts--i.e., the female genitalia--are, after all, where we all came from--okay, except for c-section folks.

Your answer lies within the field of linguistics or sociology. Google 'linguistics how profanity develops' or something like that. Generally they develop around a taboo and they have to have a certain "ring" to them. It cannot be forced; it just happens. In older times, perojative words mostly centred around disease and filth - common causes of death and signs of poverty.

Yeah, so it's not alright for me to wear a Jesus is a Cunt t-shirt yet it's alright for christians to go around saying pretty much the same thing about Satan? I bet if I wore a t-shirt saying Satan is a Cunt, how many people would come up to me and have a bitch about it? Next to none

my favorite necklace has a cross on it

but that's not an item of my own faith. it's just something pretty. i think i'm lost somewhere between atheism, ambivalence, and existentialism. not really in a rush to find my way out though.

It's not wrong at all, but I see no good reason to do it, Jesus was cool. I sense that you're...merely reacting to bad experiences with Christianity(the fake kind), it seems to be common with atheists around here. Hahaha, "Jesus is a cunt", I'd LOL if I saw someone wearing that.

A wear a big gold dollar sign ($) on a big gold chain. Capitalism is my new religion. The mall is a monument to my faith.

1. A "Satan is a Cunt" shirt would be effectively identical to it's thirteen year-old, "Party 'till 9!" equivalent, the "Mean People are Stupid" shirt. Seriously, are you just trying to be a tool?

2. Who the hell cares what Christians say about their bogeyman? Pretentious, self-righteous asshattery on their part does nothing to excuse pretentious "shocking/edgey" asshattery on yours.

3. Do you really think "next to none" would be an accurate count of people who would take issue with a "Satan is a Cunt" shirt, or any blatant display of what is considered one of the worst profanities in out culture? Or do you just not think, preferring hyperbole, guilt-by-association and being a jackass?

I wore a scapular around my neck for a decade. Then I finally read the Bible and realized that all of the rules and regulations the Catholic Church has does not really apply to Christianity or being a Christian. It just applies to Catholics. Then I realized that Christian denominations are stupid and, in a way, blasphemous to an omnipotent god.

There's a great little comic strip that does a great bit on Dollarism, it's in the collection, Screw Heaven, When I Die I'm Going to Mars.

I wore an ankh for a little while. I don't really wear it that often as of now, though. It conflicted with my staunch agnosticism.
