To atheist, agnostic, and theist:

Keep your own raft in proper condition, otherwise you can't help those stranded in the currents. Likewise, do not abandon your raft in the folly of thinking you have the strength to fight the currents so that you may help someone your raft doesn't travel near. Likewise, if you are drowning, do not argue with your rescuer about the name of the paddle he extends. Likewise, if you are the rescuer, do not deny the paddle to another because he calls it by a different name. Lastly, if you are drowning and help comes, do not deceive yourself and say to him, "I am not a drowning man. I breathe water for I am not of your kind."

i believe he's using an analogy to show the relationships between theism, atheism and agnosticism.

"God loves us all"

Romans 9:10-16

And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

11(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

12It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

13As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

14What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

15For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

So basically, he is merciful, but he does hate a few people.

You look to the OT God for love and mercy you will not find it... Look to the NT God for Love, Peace and Wisdom and you will find the God which people do not know but think it is one and the same with the OT God.

People think the OT God is the NT God because, Dogma says so... Everyday all anyone does who rebels from religion proves is that they rebel against dogma not God. These two gods do not have to be one and the same but people have been told they are... All most people do is swing in the extremes...
