Hi, I was wondering what I would need to buy to listen to the frequencies used on the motorola XTN 446, Its Operating Frequencies are 446.00625-446.09375 MHz and it uses PMR446 frequencies that are

Channel Frequency (MHz)
1 446.00625
2 446.01875
3 446.03125
4 446.04375
5 446.05625
6 446.06875
7 446.08125
8 446.09375

The user manual for the Motorola xtn 446 is available here: www.hellomoto-shop.de/funk/ download/manuals/xtn_manual.pdf if that’s any good, and this site: http://www.446user.co.uk/index.php that seems to have information on the frequencies it uses.

Would I be able to use something similar to this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Multi-Band-Radio-Receiver-With-Airband-FM-Marine_W0QQitemZ130199398584QQihZ003QQcategoryZ409 79QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem to listen to the frequencies the Motorola uses ?

Not sure how things work in the UK, but those frequencies could be heard by a regular scanner if you're wanting to. However, in the United States, it appears that those particular models would fall under a classification of radios that do not require only a rudimentary license to use (GRMS) or no license (FRS). So, in theory, you might be able to just buy the radio itself (which might or might not be cheaper than a scanner) to listen in.

Why exactly are you wanting to listen? Keep in mind, listening in on private two way conversations can be illegal in many places, so be sure to check up on your applicable laws.

Yeah, you can buy the radio's, but there pretty expensive. I just wanted to see what i'd need to get to listen to the 446 frequencies.
Thanks :)
