I'd have to say Italy.

Beauty and diversity, both in landscape and people, people are generally as lovely as the landscape :)

What is your personal favirote European country and why?

I've been to Italy for a day, it was pretty sweet. It was strange to see intersections in small villages because there are no stop signs, people just honk. I liked Germany a lot, especially Bavaria. I didn't like atmosphere of Berlin, but Bavaria was awesome. The food was good, the beer was good, the people were nice, it was beautiful, and riding in cars was a rush. The autobahn was intense.

Poland and Malta.

Poland for family and love reasons.

Malta because that place has a load of people who mean a lot to me and has the best clubs I've ever been to!

Greece is amazing out of the tourist season. I stayed in a small fishing village in October; it's easily my favourite place in Europe.

Ireland is fairly awesome as well, although the weather may take a bit of getting used to if you're more accustomed to warmer, drier climes. The west coast is probaly my favourite part; it's a bit more wild and a bit diferent to the rest of Europe.

Poland is Europe's arsehole.
I can safely say it's my least favourite country in the world and I would be happy if it was wiped off the face of the earth. Everyone I have ever met from Poland was a cunt, their national history is one of behaving like cunts (more specifically, having sand in their vaginas) and their language is queef. They're even worse than Estonians.
Fuck off Poland, everybody hates you.

In answer to the question, Russia if you count it as part of Europe, Germany if not (hey what do you know, two countries that refused to put up with Poland's shit)

wow...you know that's not factually correct but I have to say +1 and laugh given the bolded part and General Plan Ost.

Holland, Spain, Scotland

I've only been to Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, and Italy. Of those...hmm, it's really tough to decide.

It would be between Spain, France, and Italy. I've been accross all of Italy, whereas I've just been to two cities in Spain, and two in France...

Man, I can't decide. Italy is fun to travel through, mainly because you can easily and cheaply hop on a train and hop from unique city to unique city. Spain has an amazing vibrance at night, especially in Madrid. But Paris...Paris is definitely the most beautiful city I've ever been in, so I'd probably have to choose that. That place is like an architectural amusement park.

I'll hopefully be able to check out the central and eastern countries this summer though, so my opinion may change.

Well it all depends on what you're looking for.

Most beautiful city I pick Paris, I agree totally with what DerDrache said, you can walk for hours and it's visually stunning, plus there's many really good eateries as well.

For the nightlife definately London, Barcelona or Berlin, huge club scene, easily available drugs, top DJs every weekend.

For natural scenery I'd go for Italy, hell i'd probably pick up my hometown, it's on the hills and it's one of the world's wine making hotspots, all the hills are covered with grape and it's a really relaxing sight.

Plus I can also see the Alps from my terrace, on clear days you see the glaciers really well.

lol... why do you think you can now afford to fry your potatoes...? :p

ITT: Americans.

Bosnia and Yugoslavia made me lol. Do we have a Czechoslovakia, yet...? ;)

I dunno really. I guess the one i've been most is France, and I fucking love France in some ways, it's the most fascinating and beautiful country, with tons to see and do, but also it can be shit, because of some French. Plus it's expensive, not that eye opening mostly.... i dunno.

I've never been to central/eastern europe but I really want to go to Croatia and Czech Rep at some point, good sightseeing and nights out, i've heard.

Errgh, this is difficult. I'm going to say Italy, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. Their food is just so damn awesome. Venice, Prague and Vienna were just beautiful cities. the Czech Republic and Italy were mostly very cheap as well.

Anyway, I enjoyed myself immensely in all of them.

Maybe technically, but culturally they certainly are distinct enough to warrant...a distinction.
