Are there two pronunciations for the word 'Blessed'?
Is there 'blest' and 'bless-ed'? Or is it the same word with different pronunciations? Or do the different pronunciations have different meanings?
I ask because I have heard a song where it is said 'blest' but heard it in Church as 'bless-ed' and 'blest'.
Eg, "Bless-ed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." or something similar, 'blest' doesn't fit as well or maybe it's just the way I've heard it and got used to it being said and also, eg, "He was blest by the priest." fits and 'bless-ed' doesn't.
Is it just what sounds good to the ears and both have the exact same meaning (same spelling anyway) or there are slightly different meanings and this goes along with the lines of the pronunciations?
I personally thought they had the same meanings and it was just preference in how you say it, but then I heard the same person say it both ways differently.
So what do you think and how do you say it?
