This is the only forum I could think to put this.

I am doing an essay (3000 words) on the theme of "To what extent do the ends justify the means?" And am having some trouble with the introduction.

The first line basically...it just sounds so bad, and I need a really nice alternative.

"To what extent does the end justify the means? This asks, could extreme means be justified morally when looking at the end, or desired end result. :

I don't like the presence of the question mark and "this asks"

Anyone got any ideas?
