...I'm supposed to be impressed with a link to a well-known fansub group which I've known about for years?

Well, you weren't suppose to be impressed per say. It is more of a motivation to start posting your own.

Besides, more seeds the better right?

Okay, I personally stream a series before anything else. If I like it I'll dedicate the time and the slow internets to the torrenting. And if it's really good, I'll break down and spend the money for a bootlegged Ebay copy. If it's god like I'll buy a legit copy. I only own legitamate series of Evangelion and Fooly Cooly. So that's how my progression of anime goes.

As for sites I torrent from, isohunt.com and thepiratebay.org generally has it all.

I'm just curious if anyone else actually buys anime and what do you have?

I bought Golgo 13, Grappler Baki, Angel Cop, Fist of the North Star, and Ninja Scroll.

The Ninja Scroll and Fist of the North Star DVDs are well-made bootlegs some guy sold on ebay, but I got em' cheap so I'm not complaining. Most people wouldn't be able to even tell, so a lot of people are getting away with selling bootlegs. The only thing that gives it away is the lack of details in the fine print like the distributing company and such.

Everything else is sitting on mah hard drive.

Hell, my 2 favorite series I couldn't even buy if I wanted to since they aren't marketed here.

you might need a different DVD player...I remember that happening with the Gundam Seed DVDs..used a different DVD player and it worked.

also even though it likely didn't work, you can try to play it repetitively and that might jig it to work.
