Let me start by saying what is going on with my life. I am a first year college student, I have a job in the summer where I make 3500 or so dollars and just live off that for the year while staying with my parents. I would like to move to Canada some day. Possibly British Columbia, I'm not sure yet as I have never been there. I live in the mid west of America. I am considering taking a summer trip to Canada somewhere before I make any major decisions. I have no idea where to visit. I would like to go to college when I move if I do at all. I was thinking possibly of taking a road trip to somewhere in British Columbia. I also was going to take my girlfriend and a friend or two. I don't really want to do the tourist thing because mainly its to see if I could live there and if I could make it. Any help is appreciated.

You haven't even been able to support yourself yet.
I'd suggest a few years of being independant(like an adult) before moving to another country. If at that point you are confident in your ability to support yourself, then by all means make several trips and then make the move.

I can't with these retardedly high gas prices, expensive school and what not. I was told in Canada college was free and so was medicare. Thats what would make it easier.

Have you started by reading Canadian news sites? Looking at various cities & regions on the web? The federal immigration site?

You only work in the summer so of course you're not going to make enough money to do shit.
ALOT of people work full time and go to college full time. Hell working part time would even be better than the situation you have now. If you are looking at Canada merely for handouts, I'm sure the welcome will be less than warm. I know little about Canada but I doubt you'll be able to move there and enjoy the benefits right away. You'll probably have to get a job and support yourself for awhile.
Like I said, you need to grow up before making a drastic change of location. If you can't get out of momma's house here, you're gonna have a really hard time anywhere else.
College is not free in Canada. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080219063423AA4oWq4)
But wait until Obama gets into office, then your college will be damn near free:

Oh, and don't move to BC just because you heard the bud was great. That's the worst fucking reason ever.
