We all know that this chapter of the bible gives us undoubted proof of Gods hate for faggots. But when I re-read it today, I realised something I hadn't noticed before.

27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

God hates Wizards...

Leviticus is one of my favorite books in the Bible. God condemns all sorcery, if memory serves me, in many places throughout the bible.

Sorcery at that time was pretty much anything that was not fully understood, or what your priest told you was sorcery (anything that endangered the church's choke hold on the weak minded).

SURELY WE INVITE GODS WRATH UPON US!!

I don't understand the big deal about it, though.

Wasn't sorcery used in either Kings I or Kings II to conjure up the dead? And what differentiates the sorceries in the Old Testament to Jesus' miracles in the New?

Nevermind that the word used then, and translated to sorcery these days, means divine conjurations with the intent to harm. Don't you love how much gets lost in translation and time?

Magic, including summoning of demons, is not banned whatsoever: it is the usage of demons to cause harm that is a punished-by-death deal.

Many of the Biblical 'Heroes of Might and Magic' (bad ass video-game, btw) used demonic conjurations for 'God's will'.

Haha...just Heroes of Might and Magic...if there's a Biblical version, I definitely want Joshua as my first hero. I'll pick up Solomon late-game to boost my fifth level magics.

I would, actually, pick Enoch as my first hero. Coincidentally, both were taken without death.

Exactly, so should we, on that basis, not use translated versions, purely because they fail to convey the original and intended message?

If so, most mainstream Christian Denominations would be wrong. Their doctrines would not match the Bible.

Hence my issue with religion, doctrine, and holy scriptures, but not God (or Gods).

Just having a guess here, but mostly when sorcery is condemned in the Bible it's linked to having and using an evil spirit or familiar spirit to do your will. Not to mention that biblical magic/miracles are not usually used for personal gain, such as for pay or to fulfill an individuals desires. Maybe the Bible is condeming those people that use their super-powers for bad :D

Wasn't bringing Lazurus back to life a personal desire of his sister and Jesus, himself? I mean, it was his time to die. But since he was a personal friend of Jesus, Jesus felt that he would override the natural course of life and death on this specific instance.

Hah, like hex is going to actually back herself up. She's a christian, she doesn't need evidence.

But whatever, I'll believe. So demonic conjuring is cool? What about destruction magic? Or clerical spells? Are they allowed too?

Man, I wish some of that was real so that I could really give a fuck.

It depends on the Denomination, doesn't it. It is either He a human incarnate of God, is the Son of God, or He is some kind of spirit in the mocking the form of a human. For God being so omnipotent, He seems to
have a problem with keeping all of His followers in line with what He was.
