You walk into your office this morning, open up your note book and check your mail like you do every day. You have one email. Its topic header says: W. "An email from Watari" shoots through your mind and you quickly double click it.
"Dear J,
When you recieve this email it means that L is dead."
You jump up from our office chair which tumbles over backward. "L...is dead!?" you mumble in bitter astonishment. You quickly read on what more the email has to offer.
"You are selected as candidate to be L' succesor, are you interested?"
You take a moment to let everything sink in. You've worked with L before and now he's gone. But you are soon to realise that law enforcement around the world is in dire need for L' wisdom. But can he be replaced by anyone else? Can I compare with his talent? Is this my future?
The bottom of the email reads:
Let me know if your are. Send an email stating your "@TOTSE forum name" and an "email address" to y.shinigami@gmail.com within 72 hours of recieving this mail.

The Game:
In general: I write a strong detective that you have to solve. It will be a story about a serial killer that you will need to track down. In order go up to the next stage you will have to awnser certain elements of the story which I will state. Such elements could be questions like "where is the killer?"or "Where will he be on the 25th of November?" or it could be questions regarding what the next best course of action would be. These elements need to be awnsered in a logical manner, no plain guessing.
If you solved the first part of the case satifactory towards the asked elements you will advance to the next stage of the case, which will be more difficult and indepth. This will go on, if needed to a totally new case until there are only 2 candidates left. For these last two candidates I have something very special in mind. A psycholigical encounter between the two L' candidates will then decide who is to succeed Lucius Lawliet as L.
Rules:
- Once the game begins, each stage will take exactly 1 week. Each saturday everyone's deductions must have been sent yo y.shinigami@gmail.com
- If you fail to send it in time, you will be disqualified.
- Every saturday I will post each case and declare who is through to the next stage and who drops off.
- I might give additional notes to someone's case, remember them because they will have informational value.
- It is alright to communicate with other candidates as much as you like.
- If to few people manage to correctly fill in all the elements I will select additional candidates that filled in most but not all elements.
Hints/Tips:
1. ALWAYS base your case on facts. Even if you start out with a hunch or a theory, you should always deduce it down to hard facts. Try to start out with the facts you have and/or discover additional thruth's previously hidden in the story to build up a case.
2. Use evidence to support your claims and solidify your case around the asked elements. Although in the beginning there is ample of possible evidence material, there is no one to tie it to, try and interpret what that evidence might mean if it was person X or if it was X time of day, etc.
3. Read more of my stuff. Finding out how I as the author tick might give you an insight into how I construct these stories and that might be of great assistance to you. "L and the return of the Zodiac" is right here on totse and there is other work of me out there.
The case presented to you is called: "L and the Necromancer Moon"
