Why is it that most call themselves Christian, and yet celebrate pagan holidays, and don't keep the sabbath?
Why do we call the Messiah a PAGAN name, and not His name?
Passover doesn't begin until April 20th. Evening and day begin in that order.
Genesis 1:5
God called the light "day," and He called the darkness "night." Evening came, and then morning: the first day. So a day BEGINS when evenings starts.
Somehow we've gotten our days and nights mixed up and count days the opposite from the way it is. You can do the math from there..
The Messiah's name is YESHUA, if and when properly translated, is JOSHUA.
Paul went to the greeks to preach YESHUA, and when He got there, he found that the way to PREACH YESHUA to them was through the things they'd already believed. ZUES was the father of ALL the other gods. That's how he did that. In turn the greeks called Him JESUS, Jesu. Which isn't His name.
Pagan holidays were kept and are still being kept by those who call themselves GOD'S PEOPLE. Sabbath isn't even kept among those who call themselves God's people. I'm not saying LAW SAVES, I'm saying.. we've formed a religion that shadows truth, when truth should shine. TRY TELLING SOMEONE THE MESSIAH'S NAME IS JOSHUA, OR YESHUA.. they get ANGRY!

Christian holidays seem to be so conveniently placed around the same dates as many pagan holidays. They did this to make conversion of the pagans to christianity easier.
Christianity as a religion is largely a mass of people that haven't a clue of what they are talking about, or are just mislead by the powers the be in the church. The human ones I mean. The church, in its efforts to censor anything that pushes people away from the faith (btw I'm speaking of catholicism, and christianity. I believe the jews are much more fair and just) also cover up true history, which inadvertently changes parts of the religion itself over time.
Funny how efforts to cover deceit only produces more.

The name "Jesus" is an Anglicization of the Greek Ίησους (Iēsous), itself a Hellenization of the Hebrew יהושע (Yehoshua) or Hebrew-Aramaic ישוע (Yeshua), meaning "YHWH rescues".
Sir why are you so ignorant of your own religion?

Why "most"?
Worldwide, Christians constitute a minority, and many so-called Christians are Christians in name only (such as the millions of Catholics who dare to think for themselves and reject the anti-woman stance of the church).

You're quite right OP, and the reason for this is when Constantine tried to convert the whole of the Roman Empire and Northern Europe to Christendom, he needed to keep all the holidays in the same place to stop the Norse from kicking his christian ass.

This phenomenon is not limited to the belief systems of religions but, to the structures in which these religions are practiced as well. It was common tradition thousands of years ago for a conquering army, after it had razed a city, to build a temple above the remains of the previous temple. Infact in the middle east you'll find Islamic mosques built upon Christian churches, built upon Jewish temples, built upon pagan shrines.

Because of what it symbolizes. The Word of God shows exactly what you've just said.
It's a stake in the land. A proclaimation of dedication.
The point is.. MOST Christians STILL think the sabbath is SUNDAY.. and it isn't it begins FRIDAY EVENING. Most Christians CELEBRATE EASTER, AND CHRISTMAS.. which are just as pagan as HOLLOWEEN.

Why, you ask?
The obvious answer is Christians are sheep. They follow. Constantine told them to follow paganism in 325 AD and few have ever looked back.
I say ALL the bible is based on paganism. I think zeitgeist makes this pretty clear.

Following what speaks to your being is the closest most of us ever come to being an entity of free will. And as much as any of us likes to think we're free, we're chained to a particular way of thinking, feeling, and living that all centers around a single core feature of humanity that has long outgrown its usefulness. We are all slaves to some master or another; most of which are entirely abusive...what's funny, is that you ridicule the other slaves instead of organizing with them in order to find the master that doesn't abuse.
You'll never be completely free...but wouldn't you rather serve a master that feeds your mind and heart whether you ask or not? Why do you serve the master that lies to you; telling you that you are free, yet forces you to judge and demean those who serve another?
Today, I get to serve the master that tells me straightforward that I am not free, yet forces me to do nothing. My bondage is that to mortality...other than that, I am free. My master demands nothing of me but for the return of what is borrowed. This is my indenture; this is what I cannot escape. All that is given me will be taken. I have no ownership.

I know what the SDA believe. But the type of religious people that live in the BIBLE BELT, I live in Tennessee, are the type that say everyone's going to hell if you don't believe what they believe. Look if I tried telling people in my family, like my uncle, that Friday evening starts the sabbath, and ask him why he works on the sabbath, he would tell me that I'm in a cult.
I'm a SPIRIT-FILLED BELIEVER, but I love HISTORY, be that as it may, I study. I study the Tanakh, I study the Complete Jewish Bible, which I love. I'm about to start attending a church to learn Hebrew. I know very little of it.
So much was lost in translation, and due to the periodical times of the events that transpired. People of the past were forced into their ignorance. WE ARE WILLFULLY IGNORANT, WE HAVE KNOWLEDGE AT OUR FINGER TIPS!!
'Christians' should celebrate PASSOVER. Not a bunny.

^That is a great comment--judos, props, and a tip of the Greyfox fedora in your general direction.
In general, Christians seem to be better at celebrating hangover than passover.

Seriously, who are you all to mock someone else's personal fantasy land?

You pride yourself in being an atheist. (We'll see how long that lasts.)
I pride myself in my faults. I do. I take JOY in them, because I know that in my weakness, HE OVERCAME IT ALL FOR ME, and there's victory in HIM, and I have to ADMIT my weakness in order to access His GRACE. Praise God! I'm stirring myself up! Paul said, "Stir up the gift that's in you." I'm not saying I can remain in sin and recieve His grace. His mercy, CERTAINLY. Amen. Know the difference.
As a BELIEVER, in the WORD of ADONIA I celebrate passover as to REJOICE in the fact that the Messiah came to the enemy in a confrontation to reconcile God's people back to Himself. The Messiah REPRESENTED GOD to the world, and told us to REPRESENT Him to the WORLD as well. (Intercession, a meeting held to speak on behave of two.) The Messiah, became the great INTERCESSOR, when he confronted the one who tempted God's people to SIN in the GARDEN of eden, through lust of knowledge by a tree, and was HUNG on a TREE in the GARDEN of Gethsemane. Pain brought forth healing. God's JUST JUDGEMENT'S REQUIREMENTS met, and GOD'S LOVING MERCY met, through THE MESSIAH. Our INTERCESSOR. It's a GLORIOUS event. Read up on Moses and the people of Israel and what they had to do with the blood of the lamb on their doorposts to protect them from wrath. Blood had to be shed to cover sin. Why? God doesn't change His character. His JUSTICE requires JUDGEMENT, and His LOVE demands MERCY. BOTH met through THE MESSIAH. As he presents us the the Father we come with confident faith. Knowing God will hear from Us, because WE'RE MADE CLEAN HIS BLOOD.
There's depth there, and I'm not going into it. I figure if anyone is interested or hungry to know more, they'll meditate that and look into it for themselves.

I like the pagan version:
The sacrificial feast followed, after which the Luperci cut thongs from the skins of the victims, which were called Februa, dressed themselves in the skins of the sacrificed goats, in imitation of Lupercus, and ran round the walls of the old Palatine city, the line of which was marked with stones, with the thongs in their hands in two bands, striking the people who crowded near. Girls and young women would line up on their route to receive lashes from these whips. This was supposed to ensure fertility, prevent sterility in women and ease the pains of childbirth. This tradition itself may survive (Christianised, and shifted to Spring) in certain ritual Easter Monday whippings.

I think what OP is saying is that it is too much and it needs to go back to its ``roots'' of the 20 years or so before it got butchered by Constantine.

It isn't, but it is.
It isn't for the fact that the Messiah IS and WAS, and IS TO COME.
Being a BELIEVER stems from the TANAKH.
When being translated from and to greek and english.. alot was left out or misworded for the 'system' in place in Rome, and what not. If you don't remember, the Roman Catholic church wanted to RISE above the government in Rome, and in fact the Roman Catholic church was controlled by the government set up in Rome.
The people didn't have the WORD of God, they had a PRIEST. They were told you could buy people out of hell. People would climb steps begging for forgiveness of their sins, and pay MONEY to be forgiven and then pay money to not go to hell, and get their dead loved ones out of hell. The church was corrupt, bad.
Martin Luther began going into the system of the Roman Catholic church, even though he knew no better than to follow what he was taught by being raised in this time, he knew something didn't add up. He got his hands on the WHOLE Word of God, and had many answers to his questions. This pain, and determined journey birthed a HUGE turn of events in his time. He seen the Word of God shouldn't be contolled by men. How these people DESERVED to know the TRUTH of the WORD of GOD, and how you're saved BY GRACE AND THROUGH FAITH. He preached this too. It's not by BUYING your way out. It's by BELIEVING. He began to translate the Word of God and post scriptures on the town meeting doorposts. Then he distributed bibles to 'the nations'. He really believed that the Word of God should be in each individual home.
Granted men got a hold on it, and men will corrupt holy things, and began to kill over freedom of the gospel instead of being willing to die for the sake of the gospel.
Leaving love out, it became about self to some individuals, but not to Martin Luther.
Years later the Word was TOTALLY translated, and distrubuted by the Roman Catholic Church IN RESPECT of the Roman Catholic Church.
They translated the Word accurately, but inaccurately as to not go against what the Roman Catholic church believers. The Roman Catholic church was, and still is, for the most part, very much pagan. IT'S IN OUR GOVERNMENT, it's in our congregations of believers, and the sad part isn't that they celebrate these pagan holidays and things, it's that they don't KNOW they're pagan. If you tell them they are, they say, YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!
Any Messianic Jew will tell you this too.
They don't call Him Christ, they call Him the Messiah.
They don't call Him Jesus, they call Him Yeshua, or Adonia.
The great thing is, God meets people where their faith is.
He also said MY PEOPLE perish for a lack of knowledge.
Everyone's heard this, but none have taken on the responsibility of knowing more, because in knowing more comes more responsibility. You can live miserably comfortable where you are, or know more, do more and get to more than enough.
