Well, I finally got around to finishing this series, and I can say this with all honesty in my heart.

What the hell?

Don't get me wrong - I loved this anime, but I really don't think I got over half of what was going on.

I just tried reading some stuff on Wikipedia about it, but that didn't really clear much up.

I don't get how most of the characters even had anything to do with the storyline at all - such as Lain's sister Mika, even though I'm sure that her going nuts probably has something to do with it somewhere. Arisu, also -I don't see why she was singled out towards the end to stay with Lain. The whole story began with Chisu killing herself, and then they brought that up towards the end, but it didn't even seem like they connected why it all makes sense, even though I'm sure they did somewhere.

All in all, though - I loved the storyline (at least what I could make out of it), and thought it was an amazing show, but I'd really just like to know what I'm missing. I can just tell a shitload of secondary plotlines went right over my head. Should I re-watch the whole series and try to make sense of it all? Has anyone else watched this series? I'm sure someone's seen a site picking this show apart.

Lain is another one of those series like FLCL, that most people will have to watch again to get.

When in doubt, Wikipedia can usually help to understand some stuff if you're in a hurry.

Take it as you see it...Now if I remember correctly (it has been 2 years since I watched them)...Chisu killing herself was an introduction to the wired and to show its influence on people.

Might rewatch them all this week sometime actually...*sigh* <3 Lain

This anime is amazing. The crazy plot is what makes the show.
