Why do so many animes have terrible endings? They just have such a lack of closure that it makes it seem like a waste of time to watch it.
(WARNING: Lots of spoilers for lots of series follow)
Death Note: Light dies like a bitch? Wtf, man? He was supposed to be a total badass mass murderer, and he died crying in the gutter.
Samurai Champloo: They all just walk away? Didn't they swear to kill each other? What kind of shit is that?
Evangelion: How can they even call that an ending? I mean, End of Evangelion made up for it, but how could they think to close out such an awesome series two episodes of existential garbage like that?
Negima!: What the utter fuck? Suddenly a main character dies, then everything turns to shit. It's like they just said "Fuck it, let's just use whatever ending some dick on the street comes up with. We don't have time for this crap anyway. People won't care if it makes no sense or totally ruins a good series."
Fate/Stay Night: After all that, Saber goes back to the past to die? Why, God, why?
Kaze No Stigma: It's like they just dropped it right in the middle of a new story arc. I seriously hope they continue it, I loved that show.
Hellsing: Who in the bloody hell was Incognito anyway?
D.N Angel: Went downhill through the second season and crashed at the end.
I'm going to let Code Geass slide since they are going to continue the series.
I can probably think of more later. It just seems like everything I've watched lately has had a totally unsatisfying ending. :(

Hellsing: Who in the bloody hell was Incognito anyway?I believe that was due to anime outpacing the manga or something similar.
Two series that I'm looking at are Air Master and Gokujou Seitokai.

I thought that Death Note was alright, but I really would have preferred it if Kira had become God, yeah. It was still fine the way it was, just really disappointing if you supported Kira.
And FUCK CODE GEASS. I stayed up 'til 3am watching the final episode, as the end drew nearer I knew they were not going to tie things up at all. I fucking screamed at my computer when it cut to the credits. :(

The R2 series start airing April 6. Something to look forward too. What I'm not happy about is the introduction of Rolo Lamperouge, Lalouche's brother who also goes to Ashford. Why would they add such an important character so late in the game?

Wolf's Rain: Worst. Ending. Ever.
It made the whole series such a waste of time and it turned me off anime for a while.

Death Note: Light dies like a bitch? Wtf, man? He was supposed to be a total badass mass murderer, and he died crying in the gutter.
They should have ended it at 26. That, or not had Light and Mikami being stupid at the end and test the note before Mikami coming to yellow box or just plain using a sheet from the notebook like they had Takada doing the entire time they were hatching the plan.
Hell, I would have prefered an "Everone dies, LOL." ending rather than what the author chose.
There was so much potential. Hell, even if you have to kill Light, they could done something interesting and had Misora Naomi come back and do it by revealing that she was pregnant with Raye Penber's child at the time he wrote her name. Since the death note rules state anyone under 720 days cannot be killed and that one person's death cannot cause another's, the notebook's effect was nullified.
Evangelion: How can they even call that an ending? I mean, End of Evangelion made up for it, but how could they think to close out such an awesome series two episodes of existential garbage like that?
They actually finished the series 2 episodes earlier, but since they were comissioned for 2 more episodes, they had to pinch out something.
Hellsing: Who in the bloody hell was Incognito anyway?
Filler.
Watch the Ultimate OVAs which are way better since they're 100% canon.
I say Bleach has the worst ending ever.
Because it never ends. They just introduce more bad guys, and every one powers up, with the main guy eventually defeating them.

I somehow agree with Evangelion.
I think that's why they're making "Rebuild of Evangelion".
With Fate/Stay Night... well, I quite feel that Saber and Shiro will never be together in the end so it was not much of a letdown for me. But still...
I am also somewhat disappointed of The Vision of Escaflowne's ending...
On the other hand, I think With Hunter Robin seem to have a pretty decent ending. It started a bit off but the ending episodes were really good.
I'll add Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen here. An outstanding ending to an outstanding prequel.

I wonder how long it'll take to get each episode subbed... damn. It appears this'll be the first show I've had to wait between episodes.
Anyway, that's bad ass. I want a Gawain Knightmare model kit.
Magical Abenobashi(SP?) Arcade's ending was satisfactory with me. I realize I have quite grander list but I'll spare you for now.

you know whats worst then a crappy ending, an anime that just will not end! for example, inu yasha. to my knowledge, it still goes on, and over time it has gotten corny because they are trying to stick to the original plot. also, as time goes by, the animation has gone to shit.
As for hellsign, i do not think of the ending as too bad. but that is just me.

How about Berserks ending!??! Wasn't it the best? *headdesk*
Berserk never ended, you fool. It's still going on right now. Keep in mind most of what you people watch is anime based off MANGA. MANGA DAMNIT!

Berserk anime sucks compared to the manga. Characters are missing and it only covers a very small part of the story.

Inuyasha's manga stopped just shy of 600 chapters. Hopefully the anime will end sometime within the next decade.

I think the anime already ended. They never killed Naraku and nothing was resolved.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let someone run around spewing their ignorance about a series. I rather GLADLY inform them the series is still going on so they get excited, jump for joy, and go read up on all they have missed. I will ALWAYS mention manga when the anime did the manga no justice.

they almost kill him, but he gets away (sigh) and instead of any actual ending, there is a voice over during the credits, and they say, "we'll get 'em some day!"

That may be true, but that's not what this thread is about. He was saying the ending to the Berserk anime FAILED. Alright? What part of that is ignorance? You are being an elitist cunt, and need to STFU. You're in the wrong.
This thread is about the endings to anime like I keep saying. If the ending to the anime rendition of the manga FAILED HARD, how is he being ignorant? HOW? EXPLAIN THAT TO ME.
*Sigh* You'll just never understand. Using context clues, it can be assumed our poor misinformed friend did not realize there was a manga. I can't have him thinking the story just ended there. So I will GLADLY take it upon myself to inform him further, so he can continue his enjoyment of such a marvelous series.

LOL!
I think it was continued in the manga.
It was a little painful though. Especially for those who watch all the episodes and waiting for the ending in order to see the final battle etc.
Anyways, I know some people saying that the ending of Cowboy Bebop is open ended. For me, I kinda like it...

spoiler
he died. the shaman said his star would go out, you see him fall bloody and all cut up, and you see a star fade away. seems pretty obvious to me.
/spoiler.
since this thread is just the endings, i kinda liked YuYu hakusho wrapped things up in the end.
Magical Abenobashi(SP?) Arcade's ending was satisfactory with me. I realize I have quite grander list but I'll spare you for now.
if i remember the end, i do not think i liked it at all. I think the series went down and never actually recovered after the chinese fighting episode.

Im so not watching these now.
This reminds me of fruits basket the whole fucking series is awesome then the last couple of episodes are hell emotional and the ending is fucking horrible. =[ why god why?!
How about Rurouni Kenshin?
They just kept making filler episodes until it just....stopped. Gay shit right there.

Looking back on it, the ending to Berserk, while inconclusive, wasn't all that bad. Definitely unexpected and shocking, but not bad.
The original Evangellion ending wasn't bad either. Maybe that's because I never gave a fuck about the city or the aliens in the reason behind the giant robots or Rei the lobotomized clone in the first place, but as I see it it resolved everything that mattered.
Death Note ending; episodes between the death of L and the end were admittedly contrived and didn't have the poetic logic of the first part, but it was the right ending.
Why hasn't GANTZ been listed as worst anime ending?
This. The last two episodes or so of Gantz were absolute shit. The premise and tone was abandoned in favor of plot devices and retarded political/social commentary. Worst thing I've ever seen.

It's filler. The manga is still ongoing.
Might also add, the manga just introduced a MECHA Sized version of the Gantz suit. It's fucking sweet.

So basically either you didn't even care that much for the series or you didn't watch anything but the last two episodes?
