Also why bother putting HMTD in a METAL case when 1. Metal doesn't like HMTD 2. Metal will gain attention from metal detectors and 3. Plastic works just as good for containment

This caught my eye as being abnormally retarded - from what I can gather, they came up with the marvelous plan of using H2O2 of strong enough concentration to detonate. This, I'm led to believe, means that the H2O2 would have to be at least 50 - 60%, and apparently hydrogen peroxide strong enough to detonate is fairly unpredictable as to when it would.

Add to that the fact that I'm always searched when I go through an airport with batteries, and always asked to prove that they work, and you've got one retarded wannabe bomber. It's not THAT godamn sensitive to metal. It's still relatively safe if used within 2-6 hours.

Most people seem to believe the instant you touch a peroxide with metal it goes "UHOH WTF BOOM". I've had AP stay on a metal spatula for 12+ hours and it didn't affect stability (well, relatively, but it certainly wasn't "touch n boom").

A full bottle of MEKP could do MUCH damage.

Except for DDNP or maybe even PETN in some cases (and i don't think the average hobbyist has enough connections to get Pentaerythritol), most detonators are packet full of peroxides with a small booster (NC, AN, etc). (for the terrorist/hobbyist).

Pentaerythritol isn't actually that hard to get if you know where to look. And I used HMTD for a while since it was just so easy to make and worked well for what I needed.

I put it that way so that american buyers, restricted of buying anything useful since 9/11, would find a way to cope with it.

PETN isn't really lovely if you ask me. I prefer a basic charge of RDX or HMX, set off by an HMTD/w AN/Tetracene booster, but it's just me :-)
