Ok, ok, everybody who has applied to UCs knows that merced and riverside will automatically let ANYBODY in, but I'm still considering going here. Unfortunately, Santa Cruz doesn't have an ROTC program, so I can't go there even though I hear it's a very good school and it's one of the few I got into.

Anybody think that the hate for merced and riverside is a bit... unfair? I don't really have an opinion since I haven't even visited the schools yet, but I'm wondering if anybody does have one.

Riverside has one of the best philosophy faculty in the nation if you want to study free will and action theory.

Yeah definitely visit Riverside before you make a decision. My main problem with the it is the location. I hated it, but I do know some people that like it. The people that I know who go to Riverside are somewhat apathetic towards the place. They don't hate it and they don't love it. They've also said it can get pretty boring. I dunno, I don't really have that much of an opinion of the place because I got into other UC's and didn't look into Riverside at all. I guess the main thing to remember is that any UC is going to be way better than a lot of other universities.
