So I bought the Rosetta Stone (yeah right) and I have both of these cds for it.
I was wondering if I learned one of them it would help me with learning the other?
For example if I learned Dutch first would it further on help me to learn Swedish or vice versa?
Is one easier than the other?
I know that languages are all incredibly different but I'm just curious.
I currently know english, and four years of high school spanish if you're wondering.
Thanks.

Dutch is the easiest to learn for English speakers, so that's probably the better one to start with.
Swedish might be easier when you learn Dutch, I don't know.

i'd think that learning german would help you with both languages..

I actually started to use Rosetta Stone and realized how it's one of the worst programs possible.
Argh looks like I just have to take classes.

Yeah Rosetta Stone is awful for learning languages.
It's pretty cool for learning vocabulary though, if you spam it into your head.
rosetta stone is a useful tool if you can bridge the gaps yourself. Learn what to look for. Understand the concepts of nouns and verbs, and you'll find certain endings under certain circumstances.

When I use it, it feels like a memory game more than anything else. If it actually told you the exact meanings of words and grammar in English, it wouldn't be so bad. But it fails to do just that.
Dutch is probably easier to learn for an english speaker. I helped a totsean who lived in NYC a bit. Swedish isn't very similar, although some "sounds" might be similar.
Spanish won't be of any use. Are there any particular reasons you picked dutch and swedish? If you just want to learn more languages, I'd recommend Dutch and German, because those two languages are very similar. (because of the shared linguistic heritage)
If want any help (with dutch), feel free to add me on msn or email me.
