I'm a graduating high school senior, and I got into UT Texas as a Physics major, but they're making me go to the summer program first (I wasn't top 10%). As a result, I'll have to take a math class over the summer, and classes start around June 15th. My problem is, I'm taking the Calculus AP test in May, and I won't get the results until July. Will getting credit for Calc 1 be as easy as taking a test when I get there, or will I probably end up having to sit through the class again? It would be so retarded if I got my credit for the class after being in it for a month.

only way to find out dude is to talk to an advisor at UT and/or your high school guidance counselor.

you've got to do good on the AP test. are you confident you can? again, i don't know UT's personal policy, though you can find out, but most schools want to see a 4 or a 5 in order to give college credit.

you shouldn't have to take any other test but the AP one to get credit for the calc class. assuming you get a 4 or 5 or whatever their cutoff is, they'll just award you credit and you'll get to go to calc 2 in the fall, which may or may not be hard for you considering you didn't have a formal calc 1 course at UT. you know?

You might want to consider taking the class even if you test out of it; a university level class (especially at a good school) is going to be very different from a high school class, even if it is AP. I got a 5 on the AP Calculus test, tried to go right into Calc II at Berkeley, and got my ass mathematically handed to me.
