the other day i had an idea of how to make a wireless detonator to detonate a device. im not quite sure how it would work, technically speaking, but here goes.

buy a set of cheap walkie-talkies. when one is being "called" (i dont know what you would call it when communicating with someone via walkie-talkie), there is a light that flashes on the other walkie talkie informing the user of the incoming "call". so would there be some way to break the outside of the light and wire the filament to your device so that when a call is incoming instead of the light flashing it would be wired to detonate the device? i know that it could be set off prematurely if someone else is on the same channel talking to someone else

i realize that maybe i didnt explain this clearly, so if you dont get something i can try to rephrase it. but could this possibly work? thanks

If you don't realize that other parts of a walkie talkie emit more energy than the freaking X>~1.5v POS (piece of shit) LED, then you most certainly don't have the knowledge necessary to create whatever you need a remote det rig for safely.

further more a simple wiki lookup and knowledge of basic soldering techniques would lead one to the conclusion thats its fucking impossible to crack open a LED and connect wires to the (filament you said? lol) PN junction.

do you know how to make BP?

are you at or over the age of 16?

do you know how to type google.com into your browser?

come back when you do and I'm sure we will help

too much interference.
and you dont sound like you know what you're doing

if you're really interested in this, look up spatulatzar's wireless detonator and see if you can do the same thing she did.

probably not.

oh course not because its akwibo posting it on a second account

I attempted to make a wireless detonator out of some cheap radios after I read about the idea in the bad ideas section. I first hooked up a solar fuse to the wires that go to the speaker. Of course there was not nearly enough voltage. Then I attempted to by-pass what I thought might be a resistor to keep the speaker from becoming fried. But I didn't really know what I was doing. In the end I just destroyed a good radio. If you really wanted to remotely detonate an exposive device, just go to a hobby shop and buy a remote controler and some servos. Make a small box to house the transmitter and a servo, then just make some contacts out of some metal of some type. But hell, the most reliable way to blow something up is with some regular safety fuse, just light throw and run...

Man will your face be red.

If you still have one.

I made a remote det system with an old Nokia once using the power from the vibrator in it.

Worked well, though I never actually used it in the field.

Doorbells can be dangerous, no telling what else is on that frequency.

Remind me of the last time a non-terrorist remote-detonated something (let alone need to detonate it this way) in a populated area ?

I've never heard of any doorbell going off for no reason either.

Well, neither have I. Though do you really want to take a chance with something capable of not just killing you ,but mauling and disfiguring you so bad your own family members cannot identify that it's you?

Personally if you feel like taking that chance you will be nominated for the Darwin award, and possibly become another tool for the media to use against home chemists.

Really in my opinion every time you use a remote detonator you should put a timer on it to get away from it just in case.

Happens all the time in my house.

Spec when you throw a remote doorbell in your mates roof then drive past at 3 am and ring it from your car.

I bought a 12v remote and reciever off ebay for use as a det. It has 2 relays which i was going to use in series so if for some reason on went off the other would still be disarmed.

Never did get around to useing this for anything.

I have had the same type of idea you have while daydreaming about bombs and detonators and shit... Although I never thought of breaking open the LED and using that to ignite your device because I don't know how the fuck you would do that and I don't think it would work. Although I read an article on bombshock or maybe it was totse??? on how to make a remote detonator out of a watch that has an alarm on it. You also have to have a solar igniter and a capacitor, and it uses the voltage from the speaker..

Instructables.com tut I found:

good luck.

There's no way I'd handle enclosed munitions rigged with crappy wireless caps. I don't even mess with the munitions with fuse or tap wire. I'd probably try it on a pinch of gun powder in a pill bottle.

Analog RF for that is just wrong. It should at least use pulse modulation and some proprietary handshake before triggering a relay or whatever.

Exactly.

Do any of you want to risk stray RF, drunk dialers, etc?

I wish everyone knew how to program a chip, but they don't.

prepaid phone, for the trigger you could wire an AND gate chip with a cheap head phone on pin one and power on pin 2, pin three will lead to nichrome and positive not worth it cause the reliable things cost money.... best to stick with fuse and a cigarette.

I wish people would know how to rig some wired logic FFS!

Lol, you're lucky if 50% of the people on this planet are smart enough to tie their fucking shoes... what do you expect ?

I remember once I drove to the repair shop for somthing and when i got there they flipped the batteries around.

humans can do very complex tasks and still be stupid as fuck :(

no no, that was genius. You just need to add more power to the wires were the LED used to be, like a 9V then run it through a low, low gauge wire (acts as fuse) then, well... that was genious

Or buy some ESTES to spare you the hassle...

Yeah, i'm lazy, so what ? :D

i rigged up one of those dog shock training collars for a pretty successful stint back in the day. don't really have to worry about interference but they are not cheap! got mine for free so price wasn't really a factor.

static would set it off, accidentally pressing transmitt would set it off. too many factors to consider.
