Genesis1:
11And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
For those that don't know. I have backslidden. I am trying to get things as straight as possible. I know we're to lay aside weights and sins that easily beset us. I know that anything done in excess is sin. HOWEVER, is smoking pot really all that bad?
It is a seed bearing herb. I know hebrew people that smoke pot, based on that scripture. If you have ever met a hebrew, they keep strict rituals. I mean Friday evening, if they're at work, you better believe when that sun sets they're walking out on you, and they'll be back Monday. They have double portion meals prepared and everything.
Anyways, where do you stand on that?
Well, I'm not a Xian any longer, nor a Jew.
My own insights into the nature of sin are that sin is action that is inherently selfish and that which corrodes social cohesiveness. THAT SAID, I believe in moral relativism, but I'm only sharing with you my general idea of what typical 'sin' or 'evil' is. Ganja is fine to me, but like anything else, you need to have your feet on the ground before you fly. I.E. Take care of your priorities first, so that your fun time doesn't get in the way/ruin your life.
Oh, and thanks for that quote. I can't wait to whip that out on unsuspecting xtians. Anyway, as for holding that up to other xtians, it probably won't fly because nowhere does it say that God allow smoking. So, it'd be better to keep that on the down low.
Here's a quote you might find useful: Gen 2:16 "And the LORD God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden"
Also, Christ used cannabis. http://www.cannabisculture.com/magazine/cc11/christ.html
Of course using weed isnt a sin. The sin comes when you cannot perform a task that god intends for you to peform.
If you get baked as all hell on weed, and then see a girl about to run in the middle of the road. It may have been part of what god intends, to have yoiu save said little girl. If you are drunk off your ass. or high. Then you cannot perform that task.
The sin isnt in the weed, its in the high. Just as the sin for alcohol isnt in the drink, its in the gettting drunk.
Dont get *too* impared to do what may be required of you.
The other sin aspect though is the legality.
Depending on religion, it is considered nearly as important to follow laws that have been placed on you by a government as it is to follow laws placed on you by the religion. The religion takes precidence of course, should there be a confliction. But in the end you must try and follow both. And in USA. No weed for j00.

See also: Genesis 1:29 (I think that's it...might be 28).
There's nothing wrong with smoking weed in moderation. The same with wine, medicines, etc.
The problem is when one puts an indulgence as a higher priority than the Spirit. Sex? Wonderful. Drugs? Wonderful. Booze? Wonderful. Emotions? Wonderful. Play? Wonderful.
Caring about any of these things to the point that you start to lose sincerity and passion for the world and life that is apart from them is when you start to cut yourself off from love and the ability to love.
Hellz, smoke your pot if you enjoy it; just don't forget the Father in anything you do. You may find ganja irreconcilable with more important matters in life...and if that's the case for you, it's probably a good idea to put it down and follow the path God's trying to take you down.

You are 100% correct in this statement.
Question: Why did you need a God to figure it out?
Answer: You didn't and don't.
... is smoking pot really all that bad?
No. I believe that obsession and escapism are the "bad" things.
Anyways, where do you stand on that?
I believe that it is possible to quiet the mind and when doing so it is possible to reach the 'balance' in reality, or God.
I believe that a number of substances, when used with the right intention, can aid this and should be called entheogens when used with this intention.
I think pot is great for that. I think there are also hormonal reasons it has been used as a meditation aid for thousands of years ... pot intoxication includes greatly increased production of both melatonin and ghrelin. The latter particularly interesting as ghrelin is also a result of fasting, which has also been incorporated into meditations for thousands of years.

relying on anything external is kind of "sinful"
Where does the internal end and the external begin?
Genesis1:
Anyways, where do you stand on that?
Genesis 1:29 "And God said, "See I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you is shall be for food." NKJV
food: 1. any substance that can be ingested by a living organism and metabolized into energy and body tissue. 3. anything that provides mental nourishment or stimulus.
Cannabis ticks both boxes:D Always seemed strange that this benign herb is labeled 'dangerous' when there are no records of it's ever killing a single person yet the legal drugs like alcohol, tobacco and meds kill thousands. But the authorities will ahnd you the very book in which it's use is sanctioned and ask you to swear upon it, before prosecuting you for it's use. Insane!
One very important point for users. Google "endo-cannabinoids", you will learn the human body creates it's own cannabinoids, and for a very specific purpose, which goes a long way to explaining the plant versions effects:D
Cheers:)

Ther is nothing "wrong" with smoking pot.
It IS however, illegal in most places, and harmful to one's health, as the smnoke contains carbon monoxide and some carcinogens.

I might be mistaken, but wasn't the famous martial artist/actor Bruce Lee taken down by his insane usage of cannabis?
The presence of cannabis (marijuana leaves) was also found in his stomach, but not in an amount that could kill him (it is believed that he chewed it). Yet, it may have been this combination of cannabis with one or more of the ingredients in the Equagesic tablet that caused his brain to swell from 1,400 to 1,575 grams (13%), leading to a cerebral edema, a condition that is defined as an excess accumulation of water in the intra- and/or extra-cellular spaces of the brain. The condition can be brought on by an allergic reaction, such as in Bruce's case.

I do not know the exact Biblical reference so I will paraphrase it.
It is what comes out of the mouth; not that which goes in, which will defile you.

Come on man. Do you really think God would get pissed at you for inhaling the smoke of a plant?
Half of the shit the Catholic Church (and Protestants for that matter, but it's not as official) is against is plain.. made up by man.
Now whether all of it is madeup is not the subject here, so I won't get into that, but if you believe in God and that he loves you it would be stupid to think he would frown on some petty action like that. Ok maybe he does, because I think he just might've sent me a sign, a mosquito just flew onto my screen and I am in my room with the door shut, towel under it. So I dunno.

I'm a nigger, so I'm more concerned with seedless watermelons.
