View Full Version : Lets Go Lakers
NO FUCK YOOOOUUUU
It's funny that no one around here really gives a shit about the Lakers. That rivalry is too outdated to us. Lots of us hate Kobe, but so does everyone.
Regardless of all that, this is still one of my favorite Celtic moments
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbNlHkvFr-8
Holy SHIT Youtube just fucked with me SO bad...
I remembered Antoine's game winner, but not Kobe's last basket, so for 0.2 seconds I was crushed that such a good memory actually turned out to be such an awful one... Then the refs took away the bucket. Oh my god I feel like I just lived that game all over again.
That felt so good. Maybe I do hate the Lakers, deep down. It was great seeing them get screwed.
That video showed me another thing too: if both teams do meet in the finals, expect a lot more green jerseys in LA than purple and gold in Boston.
yeah fuck them both anf fuck kobe. and the hawks have changed the series around.
Is it bad that I would trade Doc Rivers for Mike Woodson right now?
if both teams do meet in the finals, expect a lot more green jerseys in LA than purple and gold in Boston.
come on man lets be serious, not only is the purple and gold EVERYWHERE, your going to hear chants of MVP along with it.
and no one is going to wear a celtics jersey to the finals in LA because they will get fucked up by all the mexican's.

Kobe is one of the best players of basketball ever to have graced the field, and he certainly isn't the only player in the Lakers with merit this year.
Anyway I've been a fan of both the Celtics & Lakers for quite some time, so it's a win/win in my book.

If the Spurs wouldn't have fallen flat at the end of game 1, it would be 2-1 Spurs. I wouldn't count the Spurs out just yet.

the lakers played like shit in game 3. they are going to win game 4 in a close one and then come back to LA and seal the deal.
just so you know i made that prediction before the series even started buddy.

Damn.
Damn.
kobe still owns your life
and yessss up 3-1 thats right mother fuckers
Looks good. I love how they're playing right now. But the Spurs can never be counted out, even down 3-1. I'm not saying they're going to do it, but I wouldn't be shocked in the least if they did. Not for any fault of the Lakers, simply because the Spurs are still great. No matter what happens in this series LA is going to be dealing with San Antonio for a long time. Gregg Popvich will be the Texas equivalent of Jerry Sloan, only with championships. He will probably be coaching until Tony Parker is old and creaky. Think about how scary that is.
Lakers are going to beat the spurs in 5
thank you very much
08 Playoff Lakers >>> 08 Playoff Celtics
08 Playoff Spurs >> 08 Playoff Celtics
08 Playoff Hornets > 08 Playoff Celtics
^ Scared of the Finals
edit- not scared anymore. Amped is the only option. 5 days of glorious basking. Booo flying to Chicago on Wednesday.

Kobe is an all around dick. I have been alienated towards the Lakers because of super obnoxious mexican and wigger fans. KG has been my favorite player for as long as I can remember. Celtics win the golden basketball in six games.

How consistent has paul pierce been in the playoffs? What about Ray Allen? And Kobe? Exactly. Unless Pierce and Allen remain consistent, Kobe is gonna school the Celtics nasty.

Yeah, you nailed it. The Spurs fell flat on their asses. Nothing else much to say other than whether you like him or despise him, Kobe Bryant is a phenomenal BB player.

Celtics are the number one defense in the NBA. If the Spurs can hold the Lakers to under a hundred, then Boston can hold them even lower. You don't need stellar offensive performance to win a game 85-80. Besides, Kobe's 30 ppg isn't going to win anything; he still needs his team.
well good thing the lakers have one of the best benches in the league. Kobe's going to be getting all the help he needs.
so the finals start tomorow and im going to be drunk as shit watching the lakers go in to boston to steal game 1.
Lakers win the series in 6

Nope, Boston in 4.
How consistent has paul pierce been in the playoffs? What about Ray Allen? And Kobe? Exactly. Unless Pierce and Allen remain consistent, Kobe is gonna school the Celtics nasty.
Pierce has been ok throughout. Without looking at the numbers I'd say the dropoff from season to playoffs hasn't been enormous. He's been playing like a captain. Pierce taking control = Ring
they
Even though game 1 is over, even before tipoff I believed that anyone who picked LA in 5 or less was underestimating Boston big time. Not even just from a skill level, but tenacity as well. No way this team loses 4 out of 5 in a series, it's plain to see that. I can't say the Lakers would either. A team doesn't lose a series in 5 unless they're soft, or grossly overmatched. Well, Suns/Spurs, that wasn't really the case. I'm just generalizing. Or maybe the Suns were a bit on the soft side, but game 1 was big too.. I should stop now before I go more in depth than I feel like going.
Fuck L.A. and fuck the Lakers.
Boston FTW!
Peace.

all there is to say about game 1 is that the lakers played terrible and the celtics played good. im not worried, lakers in 6.

I'm going Celtics in 6. They have soul man. They have teamwork, they're the definition of a team.
Rondo, fantastic PG, always seems to be able to rebound off of short shots and set up for another play.
Can't fault Garnett, awesome D, knows his post, he's all over Odom.
Pierce is gonna have it on easy st.
Kobe will probably get his over Allen.
Celtics just play some great defense, some great offense, some great basketball. They've got a lot to fight for.

I hope everyone on the court tears their fucking ACL in unison.
So someone give me the odds of LA winning 4 straight, or 4 of the next 5.
I'll give em, eh, 19%. Of course it's pretty great that my team is up 2-0 in the finals, but it seems almost anti-climactic at this point. Sucks even worse that I've only seen about half of both games, being in Chicago with family.
Anti-climax or not, I'm loving
1. ESPN analysts and experts predictions looking like dogshit
2. Pierce
3. Powe
And about Powe... How bout that FT disparity? Phil Jackson and the rest of Los Angeles (though actually, a lot of people that aren't in LA are already up in arms about it) can moan all they want, but Leon Powe has been doing this all year long, and I've been talking about it all year long. Leon Powe's FT attempts per minute have been insane, the man is clearly just a genius at getting to the rim and getting fouled.
The Lakers, for the most part, are not.
Should the difference have been that large? Probably not. The awesome Turiaf block comes to mind, and there were a few no calls on Pau, but the Celtics clearly belonged on the line more than the Lakers.
edit to change the odds, my math was way wrong, the Lakers have a much better chance than 1 in 20, I'm not that stupid.
im so pissed..it really feels like all the questionable calls in the game went the celtics way and that is why they were at the line so much.
at least everyone on Boston knows they barely got out of the end of that game with a w

What can you do when one team is allowed to play as hard as they want and not worry about a call. You could actually see the lakers stop trying at times, seemed to be afraid of that whistle. How aggressive can you be when all the calls are going against you. In the 4th they just let em play no need to go by the book when one team is up 24.
This series is going to be great, 7 games is a must.

Lakers could have made an epic come back, but really at that stage you've gotta wonder why the ball wasn't passed out to Kobe :\
That was a ridiculous 4th quarter for them though. It was 41 to 25, and it wasn't even that close because of free throws.
I was going somewhere with this post but I just smoked pot for the first time in a week and I need to

dont even ask me what the fuck happend.
game 4 was terrible and i really dont want to think about it and im just going to put it behind me. Kobe is going to score over 40 in game 5 and the lakers are going to win and then prepare for some dog fights in boston.
i really believe the lakers are the better team but boston is just more consistant
That's funny, because before the Finals the Lakers were the consistent ones.
What happened?
I guess A bit of Laker complacency + A bit of Celtic tenacity.. I don't understand why people feel the need to place credit/blame on only one side of the story.

I listened to Phil Jackson's post game media conference, he put it in a good light about just how hard it is to motivate a team from that kind of deficit. It's hard man. You really have to look at Doc Rivers and think - wow, what an amazing coach.
IYou really have to look at Doc Rivers and think - wow, what an amazing coach.
l o l
I just can't believe it - one year ago, no one would have even thought of saying this.
I'm split on Doc. I believe that fans who judge coaches - especially for teams that they don't really follow, AND especially for a coach/team that they have a distaste for - usually have the wrong idea. If I were to judge, oh, Mike Brown for instance.. What the hell kind of business do I have judging Mike Brown? I don't know his coaching staff. I don't know what kind of respect he draws from his team and what motivation he gives to them. I don't know what's in his playbook. Hearsay, that's all. People say he's a poor coach, so , lol, he sucks diks
Same with Doc. Who knows what goes on in his practices, or in his locker room, or when he's studying tape? Does anyone have any PROOF that he's a shit coach, or even that he's a GOOD one?? What business do people have even trying to judge a coach, from a fan's perspective?
All I can see - People in the organization love Doc. The players like Doc, and seem to have good chemistry, which Doc can take a good chunk of credit for. Doc started coming around with rotations, and while Cassell obviously sucked, it was equally obvious that he wasn't going to yank Sam at the first sign of trouble. Based on what I can see, which is very very very very little just like EVERY other fan, I like him.

fisher, bryant, odom, gasol, bynom. = Lakers starting line-up next year = complete domination
Very very possible, until the 09 Finals when they meet the Celtics again. It's sorta hard to project a playoff series from a year away, though.
I don't see how anyone can make a good case for another team from the East to challenge Boston. LA has stiffer competition, and now I'm back at square one again.
But I'd give say the odds of LA making the Finals next year is equal to Boston's, or atleast very close one way or the other. Vegas already says LA has better odds.

Yep, you're probably right. What I'm saying is that don't count all these Western competitors out. Let's take the suns for example, great team to watch, but when they acquired Shaq they had to switch up their game from their signature fast-paced style, to something that could accommodate the big man a little more. Personally I don't think they had the time to bring this new strategy to fruition. In a years time though, who knows? They're not the only one's either, what about the Spurs? There were a lot of people out there who were confident the Spurs would take the Western, and not without good reason the Spurs have a lot of experience, 7 players in their roster sport championship rings. I'm not so sure the Nuggets were going to be anything spectacular, but I'm sure you could find people who 3 months ago would have argued staunchly against me on that point.
With the Eastern on the other hand, ceteris paribus, it's really only the Celtics, Pistons & the Cavs right now.

I think as soon as Duncan starts wearing down the spurs will only go downhill from there. The majority of their team is over fucking 30.
