How about, "The two words are phonetically similar, so they are interchangeable!". He uses a lot of grey area to make his points.

No offense, I enjoy watching/reading into subjects like this, but I have an overall feeling that the guy is talking out of his ass.

Well, I'm no expert on ancient phonetics and there evolution. But I do know that certain letters are interchangeable with other letters, and extra letters have been added over the years and that the meanings that we give things today vary greatly from their understanding thousands of years ago. Even though much is up for interpretation, I find it very interesting how many links throughout space/time are made.

He has written many books (type his name in google) not about golden squids, but you'll still probably find it interesting.

That meditation at the end sounds interesting (though personally I wish there could be more evidence for all the author's ideas). And why is 2012 so special? I dig the philosophy of harmony/love, etc., and any year should be one where we better ourselves, but I have the all-too-human fear that 2012 will be just another dull, unspectacular year.
