View Full Version : The War on Christianity
Christianity is just not esteemed as it used to be. The Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens folks are to blame. Frankly, I think atheists are just ungrateful charlatans. Christianity brought you liberalism, freedom of speech, and several other things taken for granted.
I am not asking you to adopt my faith, but have some respect for goodness sake!

Christianity has recently had nothing to bring to the table except for bigotry, and ignorance. Before that, Christianity brought us the crusades, and slavery. Christians taught the native Americans how to scalp.
Never mind that it's a fundamentally fucked up belief system.
I can't pretend to respect your religion because I'm generally honest. It would be dishonest for me to act like I do. Because I can't.

OP, if you want to "blame" anything, I suggest you blame the Age of Aquarius.
Christianity--and the other religions of the Book--are essentially obsolete artifacts of the Age of Pisces. They had their day, but have failed miserably. Jesus died roughly 2,000 years ago, and all he really had to say of importance was "Do unto others as you would have it done unto you." And people STILL haven't gotten the message.
Many Christians still oppress women, and would deny them--as well as gays--the simplest of civil rights. One hopes that these extreme fear-ridden hate-mongers consitute a minority of Christians, but I don't hear any more enlightened Christians repudiating them.
I am an atheist myself actually.

Perhaps he's agnostic, but in denial.
Or perhaps I was being sarcastic, it's kind of hard to tell over the internet, after all.
The Protestant reformation stressed the importance of the individual (daily bible reading as opposed to only the priest handling scriptures)
Individual importance is a key principle of liberalism; thusly, Christianity induced the rise of liberalism.
My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.
And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
Separation of church and state.
Christianity was a good transition tool from primitivism to today, to say the most.

Christianity brought you liberalism, freedom of speech, and several other things taken for granted.!
Christianity stole liberalism, freedom of speech and though and many other things, from human beings and it never gave anything except fear, pain and wrong answers. It forces you to rely on God, through praying and other bullshit, instead of relying on yourself.
Have you ever heard of the dark ages? You know, that 1000 year period when the church killed millions of people who didn't believe in God, and for speaking out against the faith. Where was liberalism then? Or freedom of speech and thought? They significantly halted the progress of science and ultimately the human race for about 1000 years. It also brought us many lovely things such as the crusades, where the Christians were sent to "help" the Muslims by going to kill them and convert them to the "correct faith."
What freed people from the scourge of religion and most especially Christianity was the enlightenment, the age of reason. Where people realized that the church and the monarchs were corrupt as shit, and what really helped the world was the founding of the United States, where liberalism was the philosophy and freedom of speech was an inherent right. Too bad the USA sucks mad dick today and there is no liberalism and almost no freedom of speech. If you don't "support the troops" or the "war on terror" you are a traitor to the country and the leaders equate political dissent with treason. Not to mention most people are blind idiots and again the religious right has pwned education again because they don't want evolution(real science) to be taught in schools.
They are stifling the progress of the race, and always will. So fuck you, you asshole. I do not respect you or your crazy belief in a zombie coming back from the dead, and not to mention the whole religion is based of astrology. People like you are what is wrong with the country.

Fuck the church. Fuck the pope. Fuck the crusades and all the other insane shit lunatics have tried to get the world to go along with in the name of God (and do you really believe any of these people went along with the plans of corrupt leadership sincerely believing God was ordering it? Cynics aren't a product of the modern age...the populace has always known the leaders are full of shit, they just don't care...they're just as full of shit as the leadership.) The Crusades happened because people wanted war. With the destination of mass murder, religion was used as the vehicle to get there.
These days, we tend to use nationalism and breach of treaties as the vehicle of war. Either way, we wage war because we want to fucking kill people. It's not because they pray differently, or eat different food, or any of that shit. It is because we WANT TO KILL PEOPLE. Everything else is an excuse to appear less barbaric to ourselves.
Same with killing the environment...it's not too hard to keep it alive, we kill it because we want to. The same with our drug use, drinking, smoking...we do it because we want to kill ourselves. We are bloodthirsty apes and we are killing life off bit by bit. External and internal, we're killing it. Just because we fucking can.

I get the feeling from reading your posts you are a piece of shit cocksucker. Everything you say is irrational and full of bullshit that other people have bred into your poisoned distorted mind. You cant think for yourself, that is very obvious to everyone. Your reality is based on authoritative figures telling you how to think. Do you even fucking realize that? You are mentally powerless. Simply a product of a delusional society. Go do what youre told like a good little school boy. Youre the one who needs to get the fuck out!

The Reformation was started by Martin Luther, a rabid anti-Semite. Christianity was responsible for numerous massacres and pogroms against Jews. All intellectual development hit a dead end in Europe when Christianity took over. The Bible does not even come close to supporting free speech, since it demands the killing of blasphemers (even Jesus supported this). Stop Trolling
Simple evolution is wrong. Evolution could be right, but if it is, it is far deeper than our government will ever admit.
shitty wok, wtf are you talking about? people will lie about jews being persecuted EVERYWHERE, even in things it makes absolutely no sense with. Jews bribed Constantine to force chistianity on Europe, one of the many things that they did to cause Rome to collapse. Jews are the "chosen ones" wich is why they can do no wrong to your average tax paying american. It's ok for them to kill palestians, because the bible says jews can do whatever they want without question.
Other than that I agree with most of you. There is nothing good I see about christianity, other than it being against homosexuality....only your supposed to love them anyway  So yeah, christianity is an unnatural slave religion, and I/america/world would be alot better off if it never existed.

Locke and Voltaire say: Fuck you.
The Catholic Church brought us liberalism?
The same Church who claimed a geocentric universe and made Galileo recant his claim of a heliocentric one?
The same Church that blamed Dreyfus in 1894?
Get your shit straight bitch.
The Church has done nothing but control people economically, socially, and politically the last 1000 years.

Gentlemen, please--do watch your language. Attack viewpoints if you must-- let us not attack each other.
Back to topic, more or less--the statement equating Christianity with liberalism is an insult to liberalism, which started--I think--around the time of the French revolution.
Christianity as practiced (as opposed to the actual teachings of Christ) is designed to perpetuate the status quo, which is a hallmark of conservatism.
War on Christianity? Meh, somebody let me know when the war on religion starts, so I can take the front line on the side of reason.

LULZ I just finished watching 'the 40 year old virgin' and the last scene is where they all sing 'the age of aquarius' and yeah, its pretty funny. And its a weird coincidence to see that in your post literally 5 minutes after hearing the song....

There are over 160 million untouchables in India who would take strong exception with your statement.
Especially the guy who had acid thrown in his face by his "superiors" because he fished in a pond reserved for upper-caste types.
And the women who have been raped by their upper-caste "betters," and the people who were outright murdered because of what would rationally be called an accident of birth.

Hey! Atheists, Theists, and other fellows:
Lets not overlook the fact that words proclaiming inherent wisdom or necessary adherence , whether truly wise or not, have never in the course of history caused harm in themselves.
The only things that cause harm are living things. Ideas are to be understood and mastered, not blamed. Men are the only ones who cause evil, who bring it about, who allow it to invade their hearts and overcome their reason. That is responsibility. That is individuality. That is freedom.
And if you would be so bold as to say ideas are responsible for the mistakes of man, youre one willed action away from being a facist.
You cannot blame a belief, nor justifiably attempt to snuff out a belief, for the mistakes of man.

Why does Christianity deserve any respect? Why do you think it's so great? It's a set of beliefs, which we don't agree with. And you know why? Because they're stupid. And another thing, Christian morals aren't as great as you think they are. Also, what's this bullshit about it not being as "esteemed as it used to be"? Do you honestly think you deserve some sort of instant respect just because you believe what the bible says and you go to church? You want respect, you earn some goddamned respect. But the idea that you should be respected just because of your faith (i.e. belief in something despite rationality) is ludicrous. Do you really think that you're doing yourself any favours by insulting atheism as a whole in the same post in which you demand respect from us? What makes us 'ungrateful'? Prove that Christianity gave us freedom of speech and liberalism.
Also, Christians are the true charlatans, not atheists. Christians believe all this shit, including creation, without any evidence whatsoever, and ignore scientific proof that shows that these beliefs are wrong. Atheists, on the other hand, don't believe ridiculous things because a series of thousand-year-old books comparing the Earth to a carpet say so, but follow science. It's ridiculous to say that Christianity deserves some kind of inherent respect for no good reason. Grow up.
