Im going to become fluent in japanese.
I have been there twice now and everytime get a huge drive to learn the language.
This time after I left i was having pretty good conversations with people by the end. I have realised that immersion is the best way to learn. So i thought id buy some cult classic animes, and watch them over and over again until i understand every sentence and every word in the movie, then move on to another one, hopefully eventually being able to comprehend entire scripts after the first shot. I know my speaking wont get much practice because im back home, but hopefully my listening skills will shoot through the roof.
What do you think?

Right. Keep a dictionary handy and when you hear something that sounds cool, look it up and practice it. We get taiga dorama on Saturday nights and that's how I practice. Sugoi, ne! Gambatte!

i admire your liking for the language, but fluency can take years to develop.
ive been studying japanese for 5 1/2 years now, and my fluency is equivalent to that of a 10 year old. lol
there is ALOT of grammar structures you need to learn
a SHITLOAD of Kanji
and way more.

have fun!

Get a Japanese girlfriend.

Speaking from experience, it is hasn't helped my language skills much ;)

It does help though haha.

well i might go there again soon for an extended period of time to work in their snow season, so a japanese girlfriend would be a must. unless i stumbled across a hot, japanese speaking european chick ;)
