They think radio stations have gotten out of touch with their communities.

New (or rather, re-hashed) rules like there needing to be a person in the building at all times of broadcast, and having to be located in the communities they broadcast in.

Quite frankly it's a bunch of shit, and if it passed i'd be out of the job. My station couldnt afford to hire me for overnight hours, plus 2-3 new employees for other shifts.

It's probably aimed square at clearchannel, which uses voice tracks and remote stations all fucking over the place, with as few employees as possible running multiple stations. However the FCC is just ignoring the small guys, who already do a lot of local programming like they want.

Discuss.

They tried to raise the rates a lot for online radio stations, start charging per song per listener which would make virtually all the non-commercial radio stations go out of business. There was a lot of people protesting online and they decided not to do it. I suggest you raise awareness, maybe start mentioning it on-air and asking listeners to call their state reps to ask them to vote against it or whatever. Good luck.
