So I'm planning on getting lost this summer. A combination of hitchhiking and train hopping. I'm not interested in any planning. What are some general tips for the road?

the cleaner you look and less scary, the more likely you will get a ride. so i have heard that you should shave your face still somehow and dont smell bad. i dont know from experience yet but these are things i have heard.

im not sure if train hopping really happens that much, once i saw a train with a cargo door thing open and it was slow enough so you could run and jump into it but i dont know.
