I was thinking today, why do they use aluminium cans for drinks? It seems pretty stupid, why don't they just use smaller plastic bottles?

The Aluminium could be going to a much better cause than a coke can.

I thought about that too. Aluminium is cheaper, and easier to produce and recycle than plastic.

Brits are funny. Its not enough to just spell a word the way you would normally write it, but you have to let other people know that you, as a briton, are fundamentally superior to all others because you know the true spelling. Rather childish actually.

No one gives a shit how you spell aluminum.

As an inhabitant of the UK myself, it somewhat pains me to point out that the element was ORIGINALLY named aluMINUM when it was discovered (by an American, nonetheless). It was only changed to aluMINIUM to fit in with all the other elements in the periodic table with the suffix -ium (potassium, magnesium etc.).

So there. Aluminium is still better though
