I was just wondering what you all think of ISKCON. My I think that it is a great movement. Prabhupada did very great work in the west. This is just my opinion. I am wondering what yours are.

Yeah it is awesome.
The main thing I didn't like was when they get you going in the towns asking for donations to help the hungry, but the money was mainly for the upkeep of the temples.
I like the concepts of what your consciousness is most influenced by will effect how you are next reborn. Like if you are a lazy person who just likes sleep all the time, you may return as an animal that sleeps a lot. It's just where the consciousness is focusing.
Which is why everything devotees do is for god. By focusing the consciousness on god, when they die they join him.

Yes, when Srila was teaching ISCKON was fantastic. I do not like the direction it has been takng after his death. It has been straying far from his teachings.

Not really, it's principles are far too regulatory and controlling for me and it is based on Hindu texts, which I consider to be more-or-less Obscurantist and internally contradictory.

I dont see how it is Obscurantist, when Srila prabhupada, and Sri caitayana give the devotee everything they need to know about Krishna consciousness. Its practices may be strict, and regulatory. The reason for this is that they want one to focus all their activity on praising\loving God. And followng his commandments is one of the steps to loving God.
It is stated that Krishna is the supreme enjoyer, and that through praising him, and following his commandments we give him enjoyment. Through his enjoyment, we also feel enjoyment. This enjoyment is not material, but spiritual. For any energy\action directed toward God ceases to be material, and becomes spiritual.
Although you may not enjoy it, you have too admit that Srila prabhupadas accomplishments are amazing.

International Society for krishna consciousness.
Basically, the hare krishnas. Ya know. Wearing orange and chanting in the streets n such.

International society for Krishna consciousness is the only salvation for mankind. Chant the maha mantra. This will lead to your salvation. ISKCON is the only way in my mind.

every single path is always said to be THE ONLY PATH
trust me...there are a billion...and then some...!
they all follow a similar pattern though...the razor's edge...perfectly straight, supreme concentration, free and light...get to the point...point? infinite...point....
infinite...point....
whats the difference?

what! the word contains EVERYTHING in unimaginable ways that would destroy yr mind to even begin to fathom it!
Maybe. I don't really know. ;)
But personally, I do not think the words 'point' or 'infinity', or there combined use does justice of explaining whats behind these words.

I just think that everyone will be so much happier if they chant the maha mantra.

I thought vanhalla was an odinist. Then again the maha mantra is for everyone, because it is connecting with god\krishna through his energy. This turns even a material thing such as chanting into a spiritual activity. The devotee, our bhakta gains enjoyment from the chanting, because he is praising Krishna. Krishna is the supreme enjoyer, and from his enjoyment we get enjoyment. Once on has tasted the sweet nectar of devotion to the supreme personality of Godhead they rarely turn back.

I could never be gnostic, although it would be nice awaking at ten. It just wouldnt work out for me, because I work at a bakery. That means im awake before God.
