Can anyone tell me what the requirements are to be an air force fighter pilot? Same for Navy?

Navy wings are made of gold.

I don't know but its been said,

There's two things to take note of in regards to being a pilot in the U.S. military:

The navy has more aircraft than the air force
You have better chances of becoming a pilot in the navyDepending on what you want to fly, navy CWOs (warrant officers) mostly fly helicopters and aircraft such as EP-3s. If you want to fly any sort of fighter or attack aircraft for air force, navy, or marines (they fly Harriers and soon they'll be flying F-35 along with the navy), you'll have to become a commissioned line officer. Becoming a pilot candidate is extremely tough. You have a better chance of becoming special forces. The regiment itself is challenging, but that's not the biggest issue. To even become a pilot candidate, there has to be an availability. Most of the time, there isn't.

If you've got any opportunity to log flight hours as a civilian, I'd suggest doing that. It'll help your selection.

you're going to have to be shit hot to get fighters. lets face it, everybody who wants to fly wants fighters. its the cool thing to do. from what i understand, everybody goes to basic pilot training, best of class usually get fighters, then bombers, then cargo, then tanker, then the dipshits of the class, the ones that barely squeak by and actually pass, get AWACS.

Not really. If you go to the Air Force Academy, a lot of the top scoring cadets, going for pilot slots, choose to fly heavy planes. Reason being is so that when they get out of the AF, they're qualified to fly commercial planes, whereas a fighter pilot would not be.

But yeah, being a pilot is probably the most competitive career in the military. If you meet all the requirements and wait for a slot to open, eventually you'll probably become a pilot. The fastest way to be a pilot, would probably be through the Air Force, or Naval Academy.

Go to the Air Force Academy if you don't have college.

OR

Officer Training School if you do have college and pilot license.

Heavy's suck, unless you like to taxi people and/or cargo. At least as a fighter pilot you get to wear gravity suits, and kill some Iraqi's..

Yes, but as it's already been pointed out, those who fly the heavies are thinking about life after the military.

Those who choose fighter/attack aircraft are in it for life. That's what they do. They fly fighters until the air force/navy says they can't anymore. Then they retire.

what does the airforce academy have to do with anything? there are more pilots gunning for fighters than heavies.
now i do agree that being top in class will allow you to have more control over what weapon system you get, but the military will put you where she wants you. and when it comes to flying billion$ aircraft over million$ aircraft, the top in class usually get put in charge of flying billion over the million. pilots ultimatley dont choose shit, they are treated like the rest in this aspect. you might have a "dream sheet" so to speak, but uncle sugar will do with you as he pleases.
