Well they hardly even go back on the boat past the Nazi massacre part... so I'm not sure if it's super piratey. Besides, they're not really pirates... rather... transporters and mercs.

But it's an awesome series, and should be checked out nonetheless. I wish they would make another season.

Yeah anything even slightly piratey will do for me. Luffy's crew aren't "real" pirates either, but it's still good. I find it odd that there's so little anime about pirates :/

Just go for a general Space Western. I'm not sure, but Galaxy Express 999 might have similarities.

Haven't you heard of Space Pirates? They're the best.

I think it deals with the sci-fi aspect of the future and how advanced Japan is in technology (my thinking, but not sure).

OR it's just because Space Anime is the shit :D

I don't see too many Land Pirate shows in Western TV either, though I don't watch it much.
