The NY Islanders solely because they're from where I was born. I lived there for 5 months then moved to WI, which doesn't even have a pro team, although the Milwaukee Admirals are a hugely fan-friendly minor league team (for Nashville, I think?)...Chicago's sucked forever, and I hate Minnesota in general, so the Islanders it is.

Pff at least you've won a Stanley Cup. Nevertheless, I'm loving that Dan Boyle trade.

Columbus Blue Jackets. Ohio is lucky to even have an NHL franchise in my opinion so I'm fully supporting the team until they give those of us in Cincinnati one to call our own on the professional tier. :)

Nah, not even American. I've been a fan forever, through the good times, and teh bad. To be honest, Budaj needs to really pull through and prove himself as a dominant starter, and I really think he can. As much as I hate to say it, Sakic should probably be traded as well, with him coming up as a UFA. Colorado has lost quite a few big name players in the last few seasons without getting anything in return, Kariya, Blake, etc. Losing Sakic without getting anything would just be brutal.

They made a few good decisions this year picking up some more defensemen, the line up was over worked far too much.

If Wolski, a few of the other n00bs and Budaj shape up the way they should be, you'll be looking at a Western Contender in a couple years, perfect timing considering Detroit's about to fall off.

blake was dull last season for us, then he decided to peace out again for 5 million to the sharks. fucking stupid i thought he was coming back to retire. yeah sakic used to be one of my favorite players like 6-7 years ago. LA's defense is completely shot but theres been rumor of us picking up khabibulan which would insanely help our team. labarb is ok but he can fall apart.

Since I don't really love hockey, and I don't feel like rooting for the hometeam (Bruins), I don't know.
But if someone can make the case for why their team is more badass then all the rest, I mindlessly will jump on the bandwagon.

Dallas has a great goalie in Marty Turco that always chokes in the playoffs. He's a loveable guy.

Last Stanley Cup: 1993 Vs. L.A Kings

http://bp2.blogger.com/_vL72e54uWCg/Rr_IA_vO1II/AAAAAAAAEHA/JfLR2mTtolw/S269/STC1993.jpg

Previous Stanley Cups: 23

Results last season:

Regular Season: Easteren Conference Champions (First in Division, First in Conference)
Wins: 47 (tied with #2 Pittsburgh for most wins)
Losses: 25 (least in Easteren Conf.)
Points: 104 (most in Easteren Conf.)

Postseason Results: Defeated in 5 games by the Philidelphia Flyers in the Second Round (who lost to Pittsburgh in the Third Round who Lost to Detroit in the Final)

Stars:

Carey Price #31
Had an amazing Rookie Season last year. At just 20 years old, he is an amazing goaltender. Is unusually modest and has a large fanbase, with particularly horny females.

Alexei Kovalev #27 Alternate Captain, Captain (When Regular is unable to play)

A Russian Superstar. Born during Soviet Russia, he was taken away from his parents when he was a child that showed epic hockey skill. Was trained to play epic hockey in Goverment institution. Came to NHL in 1992, won a Stanley cup or two then came to Montreal in 2003. Had a few average seasons, with the two previous to this year being particularly horrible. With one last year remaining on his contract, for some reason he finally played like the Superstar he is.

Now, for some photos of him:

Looks like I have some serious ruminating to take care of.

Dallas has a great goalie in Marty Turco that always chokes in the playoffs. He's a loveable guy.

I don't think a player that chokes is reason enough for me to pull for the guy's entire team. More information needed.

Gotta go with the Sharks man.

Very nice job. I'm not counting Campbell though. That guy in the Thornton video, is that the guy that does play by play for all the Sharks games? If so, bonus points for that, because a good play by play guy makes all the difference in the world.
And since I'm arbitrarily bandwagoning for a random team, little entertainment nuggets like this matters. You seem to have a decent grasp on what I'm looking for here.

On the negative side though, I have already jumped on another California sports bandwagon (Go Padres!), so you may be out of luck here. San Diego and San Jose... Sorry, need some more variety, but the Sharks are definitely not out of the running yet.

The Canadiens, Les Canadiens, The Habs, Les Habitants, Les Glorieux, Les Tricouleur

Eh, I dunno, dangerous territory here. While I don't want to pull for the home team, I definitely don't want to be one of those guys that pulls for that team's rival for no good reason. People that wear Yankees hats around here, I feel like most of them are just doing it to be a prick and subtlety piss people off. It's going to take a strong argument to get me as a fan.
And Video > Photo. That's kinda lazy to just link me the youtube search results of a guy.
And while it is cool to be able to pull for the juggernaut team with all the banners (hockey does banners too, right?), it's much more rewarding when it's your home team. I already have this, with the Celtics. I don't think I want another bottom feeder team to pull for (.. Go Padres!), but I don't know if I want a "Best team in _______ conference" team either.

I don't think it'll work out with me and the Canadiens. If it helps any, that Carey Price seems like a cool guy, and I'll pull for anyone that seems decent enough regardless of team.

Oh and another thing - Silly and/or difficult to pronounce names = BONUS POINTS

It is my quest to persuade you.

If this one doesn't do it then I don't know what will. Game 2 of the 06 playoffs Sharks vs. Oilers. It's a power play for the Oilers and it's 5 on 3. Two sharks then lose their sticks basically making it 5 on 1. Sharks then proceed to kill the penalty. I was at this game and it is definitely one of the best moments in Shark history and one of the greatest penalty kills
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7dlxDZhkZ0

Haha yes those are the normal Sharks announcers. They're some of the best. Randy Hahn is the play-by-play and Drew Remenda is the color commentator. I'm throwing this in for sheer awesomeness of the play and Randy's call. Game 4 of 08 playoffs vs. Calgary. The game is tied and with 9.2 seconds left Murray scores to win the game in Calgary. Haha I also love the lone Sharks fan behind the goal's reaction.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0P3ju6YZlw

Just for fun and because I'm in a comeback mood here. With 20 seconds left against the Kings, the Sharks score twice and then win it in overtime.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97iLhTIALc4

P.S. don't settle with the Padres. Defect to the A's.

Ahh no problem. But your're right, it probably wouldn't be the best idea to support the CH in Boston (Divison + Original Six rivalry + the Canadiens won all 8 of their regular season game Vs. Boston last year).

Yes, they suck like shit now, but before the lockout, whenever I watched them play, it was fucking awesome. Sundin, Mogilny, Roberts, McCabe and Tucker before they sucked, Cujo, and of course, Tie Domi. :)
