Indeed, my favorite is butane, and making the so named "oil". But you can use: hexane, ether etc...
Still Butane remains the best IMHO

Yeah, like SoH said, butane is the way to go.

I also will attest to butane oil. A friend of mine swears by the stuff. You get almost ALL of the THC out with just a single rinse. So if efficiency is your concern, worry no further. Plus, nasty, poor quality weed produces an oil who's high can compete with top quality shit. (ie. oil is almost pure THC with very low levels of impurity)

The only use I can think of for trying to recondense THC is if you're trying to purify the resin from your smoking paraphernalia.
