"Gods thunderbolts pose an existential threat to mankind. Military intervention has become unavoidable."

Wasn't very funny to me, but whatever.
People tried to take over the Kingdom of Heaven before with the Tower of Babel, guess who won?

God must really hate the South. It's been a hell of a tornado season here.

Fiction can be fun....
God won, big shocker.
I am a fan of the underdog, though. Hopefully one day humanity will kill this God same as it did Thor, Set, and Zeus.

Please don't blame God.
Our extreme weather is largely due to to the carbon dioxide we have been busily pumping into the atmosphere, and destroying the rainforests.
In short, blame free will.
Back to topic--I didn't enjoy the link. Struck me as a Monty Python reject crossed with a Weekly World News reject.

Please recognize that I was just kidding around with truckfixr.
Here in the South, it's not unusual to have it's residents thanking God for a beautiful, clear sky and mild temperatures. It's not unusual to praise Him for giving the optimal climate conditions necessary to yield a bountiful harvest from our lands, or exalt him for making rainbows appear after a particularly vicious thunderstorm.
But let tornadoes wreak havoc through our rural areas, and you better believe they're going to be on their knees apologizing to God for all sorts of things, all the while mentally flogging themselves for allowing all the Pro-Choicers, Homosexuals and Fornicators to run rampant in our cities. Our God in the South is a vengeful God.
BTW, Arms - what is the signature denomination in Alaska? Just curious.

^ I dunno if we even have one--46% of us don't attend church. There seems to be a lot of Baptists, I think due to the influx of Texicans and Oakies attracted by the oil fields.

Even though I agree with this point consider this:

Yes, but consider how much more carbon, previously stored underground as the remains of life gone by in the form of oil, was released into the atmosphere by man during the short period of time since the dawn of the industrial revolution, compared to how much all the volcanoes on the planet have released over the millions of years since the dinosaurs and everything else responsible for oil fucking kicked the bucket.
I mean, even with volcanoes constantly spewing shit into the air, the carbon levels still decreased over time. And we've managed to kick it right back up there.

Um.. Didnt Nietzsche already say this:
"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?" - Thus Spoke Zarathustra
Now at the risk of going spiritual or philosophical... I would like to offer commentary:
1. Our understanding of God is dead, not God himself because God is abstract and you cant kill something abstract.
2. ...we have killed him, our understanding of God (e.g. dogma and doctrine) is what has killed him.
3. How shall we comfort ourselves as the murderers of all murderers? Being that our murder was that we have turned the mystery of what God is into nothing but second hand dogma and doctrine which has led only to conflict and societal manipulation.
The best part to this is that no one can really argue this because, even Neitzche himself said:
"There are no facts, only interpretations."
This means even his saying can be interpreted differently, I choose to see it this way. That God is not dead in the literal sense but our understanding is what has killed what God really means.
