Love camping but have only really been around central and east Queensland. Last place I went was Carnarvon Gorge and I fucking loved it.

Yea, anyone have any recommendations? I like to be able to just pay $20 or so for the week and just roll my swag out on the ground.

There's some really cool NP's near Noosa. The best place I've been to goes by the name of The Cooloola Sand-Patch or something to that effect. Basically you can camp at a place called Harry's Hut which is on the Noosa river I think. It has drop-toilets and you can stoke up a fire if there's no fire ban - usually there will be other campers here too so take some booze (it's accessible by 4WD). From here it's about a 15km walk to this sand patch place but once you're there you could probably find somewhere to camp for a few days. The sand patch itself is enormous and takes you back a bit when you first see it. I'd love to get a few friends together, pack a bag with some acid or mushrooms and go trip at the top of this thing while the sun sets. But it's probably not going to happen.

There's also a big gay lake nearby and you can hire out a canoe and paddle around to various little campsites (some have drop-loo's, most don't). It's all pretty good fun.

Also, Carnarvon Gorge looks awesome. Definitely going to have to get there someday.
