This is the biggest bullshit evidence written to prove a "god." A kid I know posted it on myspace and I wanted to see what The Temple had to say about it.
Some people believe that this world serves no purpose and has no end. They believe that it is all one big accident, one big assembly of atoms that just happened to come together in a chance fashion. A coincidence, if you will. Although some people may believe those Atheists and Evolutionists theories, it is hard for the human mind to disregard the incredible number of evidences that Someone has been providing for our well-being.
Here are some MAJOR evidences:
1. Let's focus on the mass and size of this planet on which we have been placed. It is just right. If planet Earth were any smaller or any larger, life would not be possible on this planet. Furthermore, it is just the right distance from the sun, giving us the right amount of light and heat to survive. If Earth were farther from the sun, we would freeze. If it were closer to the sun, we would not be able to survive.
2. Now let's focuz on the tilt of the axis of Earth. No other planet is tilted in such a way that our is--23 degrees. This angle provides that the Earth is slowly turned in all parts of its surface before the rays of the sun, much like a rotisserie chicken. If there were no tilt to the axis, the poles would accumulate enormous masses of ice, and the center part of the Earth would become intensely hot.
3. The moon. Many people do not realize that without the moon, it would be impossible to live on this planet. If anyone or anything were to ever succeed in deflecting the moon from its orbit, ALL life would cease on this planet. The moon acts like a maid and cleans up the oceans and the shores of all our continents. Without the tides created by the moons gravitational pull, all our harbors and shores would become one stench pool of garbage, and it would be completely impossible to live anywhere near them. Because of the tides, continuous waves break upon the shores of the ocean, cleansing the oceans of this planet and providing oxygen for the plankton, which is the very foundation of our food chain of our world. Without the plankton, there would not be oxygen, and without oxygen man would not be able to live upon this Earth. God has made the moon the right size and placed it the right distance away from the Earth to perform these functions.
4. The atmosphere. We live under a great, BIG blanket of air--78 percent nitrogen, 21 percent oxygen, and the other one percent is made up of almost a dozen different trace elements. Studies of other planets in the stellar universe show that no other atmosphere, no other part of the known universe is made up of these same ingredients or anything like this composition.
5. The ozone. 40 miles up into the atmosphere, there is a thin layer of ozone. If it were to be compressed, it would only be a quarter of an inch thick, and yet without it life could not exist. 8 killer rays fall upon this Earth continually from the sun; without ozone we would be burned, blinded, and broiled by them in a matter of a day or two. The Ultraviolet rays come in two forms: longer rays, which are deadly and are screened out, and shorter rays, which are neccessary for life on Earth and are admitted by the ozone layer. Furthermore, the most deadly of these rays are allowed through the ozone layer in a very limited amount, enough to kill the green algae, which otherwise would grow to fill the lakes, rivers, and oceans of this world.
6. Water. Nowhere else in the universe do we find water in any abundance except here on Earth. Water, the amazing solvent, dissolves almost everything upon this Earth except those things that are life-sustaining. The amazing liquid exists as ice which breaks up rocks to produce soil. As snow, it stores up water in the valleys. As rain, it waters and cleanses the Earth. As vapor, it provides moisture for much of the dry lands of this planet. Other than Bismuth, water is the only liquid that is heavier at 4 degrees Celsius than it is at freezing. If this were not so then life could not exist on this planet. Therefore, when it is frozen, it is lighter and it rises. If this were not so, lakes and rivers would freeze from the bottom up and all fish would die out. The algaae would be destroyed and our oxygen supply would cease; causing mankind to end.
7. The Human mind. The brain of a human only weighs on average about 3.3 pounds, and it can perform what 500 tons of electrical equipment cannot do. Containing 10 to 15 billion neurons, each a living unit in itself, the mind performs feats that boggle your own mind when thinking about it.
Therefore, men who reject or ignore God do so, not because science or reason tells them to, but purely and simply because they want to!
Romans 1:28 "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind"
There is a God, and He is always watching out for us. If only we werent so oblivious to the beauty that surrounds us.

What were you expecting, conclusive evidence of God from myspace?
Most of the questions raised by that can be answered with the anthropic principle, which in this case, would basically say conditions on and around the Earth seem so perfectly suited to life because if they were not so suited, there would not be any beings alive to observe those things. So there is nothing special about Earth and intelligent life could have evolved on any of the trillions of planets in the universe, but whatever planet it did evolve on, the beings there would notice that the conditions on their planet are perfectly suited to life.

When I started studying shamanism, one of the first things I read was a translation of a very old poem written by a Chukchee shaman containing the words "Everything that is, is alive." According to Sufi Muslim dogma, god is not an entity that stands apart from creation, but creation itself. Put these ideas together, you get "God is life."
Actually, neale Donald Walsch gets into this at length in his book "What God Wants," and it makes a lot of sense to me. Life just is--there is no special point to it, nor does it have any special goals or needs.
What's more, since this idea of God eliminates the very raison d'etre for jihad, the world would be a much more peaceful place if more people took this idea seriously.

[NAME], you can not use scientific facts to try to prove that there is a god. Science disproves intelligent design.
The only sane answer to if there is a god or not, is that no one really knows.
the only thing i want to know is how science DISPROVES intelligent design.
Alright, maybe I used the wrong word for that. The facts you listed can not be deemed as "evidence" as you put it.
Or was that a copy/paste job?
There is no evidence, anywhere pertaining to a god. There is only millions of people claiming a belief in something.
I wrote those. but i didnt mean it as evidence. but if you read the sciectific facts that i listed and you think about it. it just makes sense that there is a god.
Well then,
1. Humans might not exist, but some other form of species could have evolved if those conditions were changed.
2. Mars has an axial tilt of 25 degrees. Off by two degrees.
3. Millions of years ago there would have been no garbage to even fill the oceans up with... The moon doesn't need to clean an already clean ocean to 'provide oxygen for plankton.
4. "No other part of the known universe..."
5. Nice research.
6. What about other lifeforms we don't know about? If you can believe in some invisible man in the sky that created EVERYTHING as we know it, I can surely believe in little green men millions of lightyears away without sounding crazy, right?
7. The human brain is an organic 'computer.' It is very interesting that we can not recreate something with metals and plastics to mimic what the brain does. Points for this one.
1. evolution is a fluke. if it was evident and actual than humans came from primates. if that is so....then why are there still monkeys? haha and it was said that the dolphin evolved from a dog that got lost at sea.
2. and mars, does mars have animals and species, trees, different kinds of weather, an atmosphere that can sustain life and protect it from the sun rays? after all it is closer to the sun.
3. the earth has only been here 6,000 some odd years. it's a proven fact. no kudos for that one
4. you got me on that one i guess. just simply because we havent dicovered anymore galaxies
in which we've been to.
5. thanks
6. God may be invisible but He is evident and REAL. not just my opinion but 2 billion other people's opinion as well.
7. makes sense doesnt it? :)
1. Explain dinosaurs please.
2. Excuse me? Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun, meaning it's further. Your point in that fact was that Earth was the only planet with a tilt of that angle, giving the Earth all of it's properties. My point was that Mars has the same tilt basically, and it's pretty much a dead planet. Thanks for restating my point.
3. Are you kidding me? The Earth has been here for billions of years. Carbon dating proves this. WAY longer than 6,000 years....
6. God is not EVIDENT. That means there is evidence proving his existence, which there is not. There is merely a book written by a handful of people that claim this.
If there is your Christian god that you believe in (I'm just assuming you're Christian), then why are there so many other religions, with different gods? How can one religion contain a number of gods?
1. dinosaurs didnt evolve from anything. they were created just like everything else was created.
2. my bad on that last point. but 2 degrees makes a definate difference. not to mention it is farther away from the sun. all i was saying is that if earth didnt have that exact tilt, then the sun wouldn't be able to provide sufficient energy to most of the planet.
3. thats funny because thats what they teach us in school. that whole evolution theory. but i did my research and i know that this Earth has been here for just a little over 6,000 years. I attended the Creation museum in Glen Rose, TX and they got their numbers from carbon dating. and it's not just them that came up with those numbers. numerous scientists have come to the conclusion that Earth has only been here for 6000 some odd years.
6. I believe God is EVIDENT. There is alot more than just the Bible to prove it. Have you ever heard of Pascal? He was a famous philosipher and mathmetician in the Greek/Roman times. One of the brightest minds to ever have lived. Even he believed in God and this is his famous prase, "If I am wrong about God existing than neither of us would know it. But if I am right and you are wrong, then I will ascend into Heaven and you will wither away and perish."
There are even historical documents that state Jesus Christ was the man He said He was. and that He really did roam this Earth performing miracles. and He was crucified for our sins. and He was resurrected three days later. So much has been proven. you just need to do your research if you are really interested bro.
oh and if you notice in religion, they worship man-made things or they do certain rituals. all of their gods are made up. Christianity isn't a religion. thats the beauty of it man. you dont have to anything people tell you to. you dont have to go to church. everything is between you and God. christianity is more of a relationship. you cant earn your way into heaven. the only way to get their is to accept God's grace by trusting in Him and believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins. because when it comes down to it, nobody is better than anybody else. we are all HUMAN.

As a thiest it seems the only athiests I can stand (in relevance to the discussion of 'religion, God, and the rest') are those that are passive. The athiest that seem to have grown the fuck up about their attitudes to 'it all'.
I can stand them. Not just tolerate, but stand the passive athiest. I have no issues with them, nor with any other religion as I respect that a person has considered 'life and everything beyond it' enough to have chosen a standpoint. Exploring to find your own way certainly doesn't gain any disrespect from me, and is just as important as the place you end up. The place where you stand up.
But Goddamn the ignorant non-passive athiests who preach nothing at every opportunity, without self control or respect. They are the cliche unto themselves and at times make me momentarily fantasize about kicking their teeth in and setting them straight.
I don't though, and that's says it in volumes.
No

Quoted for fucken truth.
Ok, i can't answer each question individually BUT, bear this in mind. You seem to be implying that the fact the temperature/tilt/atmosphere are suited to our life is an indicator that it was made to be that way. That, i can fairly say, is very wrong.
When life started on this planet, as far as evidence suggests, the atmosphere/tempereature etc were COMPLETELY different. Just because the environment seems suited to us, doesn't mean someone had to make it that way. It could be, and is more likely, to be the case that life is on this planet evolved because, out of the infinite ammount of planets that are in the universe, ours just happened to be right for this type of life.
The human species is just capitalising on what was present when we evolved. If some of these things were different then yeah, maybe we wouldn't have existed, but something would have.
Also, i think it is extremely arrogant AND ignorant to think that, out of the infinite ammount of stars/planets/solar systems in the universe that we are the only form of life. I once heard from a documentry that there are more stars in the milky way alone then grains of sand on a single beach. Think about that, in the whole universe there MUST be other planets that can support life, even if it is nothing like life on this planet.

First off, I don't consider myself Atheist. I do not consider my self to be under any category of religious types.
Second, this was in no way a rant. I was trying to have a good argument with this kid. Those facts prove nothing about a god, which is what I was arguing about.

You realize that the universe is fucking massive, and that the chances of anything happening are pretty good, and if anything were going to evolve in to intelligent thinking conscious beings that it would be purely chance.
Then they would make rationels to why they are here, and deduce the chances to something like god.
not that I don't believe in a god, but it is purely a force that connects everything. Not some form that carries out its wished, and affects human life.
there is no higher purpose, or better place. Its merely by chance that you are here, and the fact that you know you are here is nothing more than that. Stop trying to rationalize your being, and enjoy it.
I hate this retarded "Water is only found on earth" bullshit. That is, as I said, complete and utter bullshit. What the fuck do they teach us about COMETS. Big fucking ice balls. Ice is water. H2O, because it's a very simple molecule, only has 3 atoms in it, and those 3 atoms are extremely common, makes it one of the most abundant molecules in the universe.
Also, for his third "point". The moon does do tides, but currents are run by temperature differentials from the poles to the equators.

1.
if the planet was bigger life would just be bigger, all you have to do to prove that is look at the variety of life we've had on earth. From something microscopic to 100 ft tall (or however big those long necked bastards were).
Natural selection has improved on life so it can survive on the hottest parts of this planet, and the coldest. WE would not be able to survive, but life would.
2. THere called ICE AGES. This has happend routinely in earths history and didnt involve the tilt of the planet.
3. ya so the waves on the shores airate the water. This retard obviosly has no education past his 5gallon goldfish tank with a bubble wall in it. Moving water gets airated, you dont need to mix it or see bubbles.
4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but besides our atmosphere dictating what temperature our planet is, it has no impact on our human body. We only use oxygen.
5. "Furthermore, the most deadly of these rays are allowed through the ozone layer in a very limited amount, enough to kill the green algae, which otherwise would grow to fill the lakes, rivers, and oceans of this world."
lol. Well theres one I havent heard before, definitaly have to add it to the creationist handbook.
6. Theres a fucking shitload of water in our own solar system, ya its frozen but its still water. Also they have found liquid water on one of jupiter, or saturns moons I thought.
7. Soon there will be a computer that is as powerfull as the human mind. Aswell as the potential for us to create a computer that can calculate infinite tasks instantly. Then some say, we will have created a god.

Or, did he ever think, that we evolved and adapted to those conditions?
ArmsMerchant, I've read quite a few of your posts but I was never sure of exactly what your beliefs were. I've been reading about shamanism, and many of the beliefs I've read about fit perfectly into the beliefs I had previously developed on my own. You can't evolve to pre existing conditions, These conditions set in the argument are all variables that created the basis for life. Humans didn't come around until all of these were set up, nothing has really changed since we came around, maybe an ice age or two, a flood here or there.
homosapians haven't really evolved unless you are talking about pre Lucy, and then there are some spots to be filled in.
For alot of those things, life would have just evolved differently, not never existed at all. And who knows how many earths are out there.
Is that your best argument? You idiots continually demand proof of God's existence, prove to me that another Earth-like planet exists.

That which can be asserted without evidence (god) can be dismissed without evidence. Earth is not the only place that life could exist. We just think it's the best because we live here.

Fact is, religion HAS to convert people. They HAVE to spread their beliefs. If they do not spread their belief and actively convert people, and arguably target easily manipulated children, religion would cease to be.
Why, you ask?
Because nobody is born a Christian, Buhddist, Muslim, Hindu, Scientologist, Mormon, etc.

Truth is religion does not need to force conversions, in fact lets use the biggest atheist example: CHRISTIANITY
This religion was never meant to become what it is today. You look at the Christianity as it is today, some of the biggest assholes and I will agree. Christ never wanted this, he wanted one thing... For us to experience God for ourselves. I do believe he tells us this most of all when he says:
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to." - (Mt 23:13)
The idea all along was to experience God and The Kingdom now. That's what Christ wanted. Christ did not want faith now and results later but faith now while you cultivate the Kingdom.
Oh and when we are born we are not even born into atheism, but ignorance. If anything we born into agnosticism. I do believe that is what we are born into, so it is possible to:
Be Ignorant of God EVEN IF God Is real.
Religion is here to help us get to it, those who grasp the fruits of what religion truly is have labored for the Spirit and they are the ones who can look beyond religious dogma.

In fact, why isn't a soul self evident?
Why do you need to be told what you "really" are (spiritual energy etc.)?
When I was born I did not need to be told that my eyes are for seeing, my ears listening, my hands for grasping, my mouth for eating, my ass for shitting.
Why would the very ESSENCE of what I supposedly am need to be explained to me?
I present one simple answer:
It is fiction.

Why would the very ESSENCE of what I supposedly am need to be explained to me?
If you would have asked me two years ago what a Gnostic would describe the soul as, I wouldn't know how to respond. But, if you were to ask me what I experienced when I came out of a deep meditation, I would have been able to talk for hours about this amazing feeling of oneness, of infinity, of life energy and of love. Turns out, all along I was talking about how Gnostics view the soul.
My point being, I arrived at my current philosophy because I had experienced it. Nobody had to tell me anything.

Perhaps you missed these parts:
Exodus
23:24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images
34:11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
34:12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
34:13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: Ye shall destroy their altars.
34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God .
That is but a small taste of the destruction of other people's religions God demanded. Who are they supposed to worship after the tribes destroy these graven images? If they want to worship, it will have to be God, or bloodshed will ensue.
As I said Christianity is infamous for it's intolerence of other religions, and this is an active form of spreading the word. Basic Christian proselyzing HAS BEEN "believe what I say or I will hurt you".
But my main point is that religions have to be spread, or they will die.
Atheism does not have to spread b/c every human alive was an atheist at some point. We are born that way.
Religion MUST be learned.

That's ALL Dogma and Doctrine... I consider myself a Christian but my Christianity is based off Gnostic POV. You can give me any OT Book (exception on the Wisdom Books) and you are just wasting Hot Air. You give me a NT Verse that seems hateful, I can assure you my understanding is from beyond a typical understanding.
We are born with nothing... but one thing ignorance... The only way to know if their is a God is to learn the ways of Knowing God, prayer, meditations, etc... Follow down the line from the exoteric to the esoteric. We need a reminder and this comes by way of spiritual texts. In Christianity (unorthodox) you are Christ, you are The One... You are to reunite with God. Even before reuniting you must know The One. Since your stuck in left-brained land let me put it to you in a methodical way:
Ignorance => Reminder => Learn and Apply the Ways of Reuniting to What God is => Reunite
--------------------
Even so lets visualize this:
GF89: "How do I know if their is a God?"
*In My Mind*: I dont Know
You have a discision seek to Know God (beyond dogma and doctrine) or not bother (atheism or agnostic theism or remain agnostic).
--------------------
Now lets visualize your way:
BP: "Their is no God"
*In Your Mind*: "But how do I know their is or is not a God?"
This is not to say I know what goes on in your mind. However, before you make a judgment you need to know. You choose to not too bother and arrogantly choose to be a nagging voice in the background saying their is no God, even if you did not bother trying to find out to know, so on top of your arrogance you are ignorant.
Lets go your way: Lets assume the universe is a cold, lifeless bitch. But in our lives especially the contemplative lifestyle we encounter an all loving, warm, and filled with life experience -> we'll just call it God. Well, if it ain't outside of us than its got to be inside of us, right? So then religion, in particular spiritual learning is designed to help us experience this all-loving, warm, filled with life thing or being or whatever have you. Its real, it exists, but you need to first have faith because, you didnt know and as you went down the line your faith was supplemented with experiential knowledge of what God is.
To get rid of this to let it die out would only make us what the universe is... A cold, lifeless piece of crap that doesn't give a damn. So, regardless if their is a hereafter or not, if I had to chose between keeping spirituality and religion for the sake of this experience and letting all who believe in it experience it as well or not. I would keep it... Just because, you want to be devoid of the experience does not mean everyone else here or in the world wants to be. What we need to change is what is acceptable in the practice of religion.
For Example:
WRONG: Fundamentalism
RIGHT: Contemplation
----------------------------------------
In fact, why isn't a soul self evident?
Why do you need to be told what you "really" are (spiritual energy etc.)?
When I was born I did not need to be told that my eyes are for seeing, my ears listening, my hands for grasping, my mouth for eating, my ass for shitting.
Why would the very ESSENCE of what I supposedly am need to be explained to me?
I present one simple answer:
It is fiction.
Ignorance and forgetfulness walk hand in hand BrokeProphet. The only way to remember if you cant remember yourself is to be reminded. Listen from the Gnostic POV, you are God trying to get back to your home The Pleroma. You are in a prison a physical and psychological prison, it holds you back from experiencing the fullness. But you are hear to help those Know God. We are all brothers and sisters and we all need to Know God. Enlighten each other, so we can get out of this unenlightened world of just believing and having wars over what we think we believe.
I never had any spiritual teacher actually have to tell me that my ass was for shitting thank you very much... Nor my dick for fucking or pissing.
Simple answer: We Are Ignorant, We need a reminder...

We are born atheists. ;)
I've never seen anyone kick so much ass in a thread before. If I were Christian I'd be crying myself to sleep right now.

EDIT: [B]OP quote
stretches the page if fully quoted
TL;DR(notrealy)
The fact that these things are the way they are, do not prove that there is a god.
Out of all the variables of living spaces of the universe, Earth is the place that got them just right, so there could be life. It's a shame though, that even though
Maybe we can persuade Totse management to put this in the MGCBTSOOYG description.
If I go into a religious forum, I expect for someone to try to convert me.
So long as they don't follow me to other forums and try to convert me there, it's fine with me.

Ah, the standard, "we are human, therefore retarded and can't do shit without some asshole in the sky guiding us. And of course, my understanding of these beliefs are far superior to yours, so you don't have a leg to stand on. Also, after praying for him consistently, once you finally believe, he will instantly make you sure of his existence, and that it has nothing to do with self-hypnosis." argument. Thank you for this. Fail.
