I have the sneaking suspicion that your just going to ask a ton of really small retarded questions... Why don't you do yourself a favor and buy or download some introductory pyrotechnics book. Thats not a question. Thats a command. Go, buy, win.
You'll learn much more than just asking us shit.
Arsenic, antimony, selenium, telurium, and red phosphorus are about as close as your going to get.
All it does is lower the ignition temp of the composition. You can go without it, but it isn't advisable. Besides, sulfur is everywhere. Google "garden sulfur." If you seriously can't find any you are interested in the wrong hobby.

yea go ahead an tell him RP is used when there is a thread in LT telling you how to make it...of course it WOULD stop his idiocy...
OP you have a choice... shut up and learn properly
or die in flaming ball of fail brought about by your own inexperience and impatience
One can liken it to flying a helicopter with no training... its only a matter of time until you DIE assuming it doesn't flip over when you begin rotation.

Ok as we all know I don't come around very often so pardon my niceness towards noobs its do to my ignorance on noobs and their previous posts.
Ok like BOB said you really don't NEED the sulfur but your BP performance will be quiet reduced. The sulfur is in the BP for a few reasons, like already stated it helps lower the ignition temperature making it easier to ignite, its also partially for fuel, and thirdly it helps produce more gases when burned. The main thing is make it easier to ignite.
Also like bob stated Sulfur is easy as fuck to get. You can go to the garden center at a home depot or ace and get a BIG ass 25lb bag for about $3 its not the highest purity but it will work in BP you just need to mill it for longer then normal. I don't know how well this sulfur works in other comps but from my experince it works good in BP. Obviously it is no where near as good as lab grade as tests will show but when its all you got it works. Also mind you I made it work with not very high quality charcoal.
Also like stated you might want to read up on this shit. Trust me we have all been in your shoes it sucks dick having to read and learn all the shit but it comes in handy. You don't need to go and spend a shit load of money on books, just look for the information on the internet searching through previous threads on here would be a good start. Another good place that I just remembered is APCforum.net they have a LOT of good information on Pyro pretty much anything you want to learn is compiled there and last time I was there they had a section for contributors where you can get access to hundreds of pyro Ebooks
