Having never been in the US military, can someone tell me just how many meatheads there actually are serving in our armed forces?

I mean, from the ROTC programs around here, just about all of the ones participating are complete shitheads. And it seems awfully clear that military is just a plan B for most high school dumbfucks who can't go on to higher education.

But seriously, is the military actually filled with shitheads like it seems?

I can't speak for the Army, Marines, Navy, or Coast Guard. Not to say there arent, and not to say there are, but maybe Trueborn can enlighten us with the Navy.

To be honest, I haven't seen many real "meat heads" in the Air Force. I mean, the whole time I've been enlisted, I've only really come across one person that I'd call a meathead, and its primarily because his entire family is prior Army, and that's all he talks about. He takes his job WAY to seriously, like when he works the front gate shack, he thinks he's deploying with some fireteam.

I remember when I was at MEPS, there was this group of guys who were going into the Army to be grunts. They were the loudest bunch of "grr hua aarrghh!!" guys that I've seen who, for the most part, locked themselves in the hotel gym when we had any time to ourselves.

I did end up heading to D, yeah. However, the guy I was talking about is someone you actually can't have a general conversation with without them just cutting off the entire line of topic during a discussion about MC Escher and saying "If a deer came up to the fence line, I'd shoot it!" (Which actually did happen.) That's really the type I'd consider "meatheads," but I guess the definition would be different for everyone. Luckily, I don't see that guy anymore. I think he's trying to go TRF or something.

But to answer the question yes and no. I met some of the dumbest people in the marines but some of the most intelligent as well. A lot are just serving because they wanted to. For example my SDI had a MBA

And yes, in the Navy, there really are a lot of "meatheads" (at first I thought it said methheads) but in the same token, there are many intelligent people who truly care about their job. And there are some in between. The people you meet in the real world aren't that different from the people you serve with in the military, after all....we were at one point all civilians.

With my brief time with the Marine Corps as a poolee(still waiting to ship for basic), I have seen a few meat heads yet at the same time I have come across some really articulate and well read people (both Marines and poolees alike).
