What kind of volatile solvents would be used? I know that some NP solvents are flammable, but to get an explosion, you'd need more than just that...

Heres a hypothetical example. Some inbred retards boiling ether in an open jar on his stove in his trailer with all the windows closed. He's boiling the ether cuz he wants to use it to extract the pseudoephedrine out of some sudafed pills. Ethers volatile as hell so at this point the trailers full of fumes. This inbred fucker knows ether is extremely flammable and an open flame will ignite it and blow the whole trailer up but what he doesn't realize is the electrical spark from the back of his fridge is enough to ignite the fumes. On top of that I think ether certain contaminants can cause ether to ignite so thats the idea behind the first video there. The minute he added the ether to whatever was in that jar it exploded.

Thats my guess as to why meth labs spontaneously explode.

I think you mean ether peroxides. I forgot about those. Very unstable with a lot of gas produced upon ignition. Happens when you improperly store ether. I believe (and please correct me if I am wrong) a little methanol to ether will stop peroxides from forming. According to that article MDMA is frequently cut with solvents and rat poison. Nothing like some turpentine and a bit of rat poison to get you rolling. I heard about this before but these are just freak incidences like when batches get cut with glass dust that cuts the lining in your stomach to make the drug absorb better. Doesn't happen that often.

other than the formation or peroxides in ether and the ignition of fumes when evapping solvent, flask fires are one way methlabs blow up. consider this: redneck doesn't know shit about reflux so instead of using a condenser, he just stoppers his flask and duct tapes it shut. then he heats it up and then that reaction occurs a lot of pressure builds up in that flask and then boom, you got a cloud of hydroiotic acid, phosphorous and ironically, meth which is floating above an open flame because billy bob wasn't smart enough to use a hotplate.

This, and I've seen people post methods of doing a birch reduction in a 2 litre bottle, letting off the pressure sporadically. It would take just one idiot to leave it to get too high, and then if there was any Li left over, I imagine burning chunks of this flying around could well start a fire.

As far as meth lab explosions, it's pretty much a non-issue. If some asshole is evapping some solvent over an open flame, they call that an explosion. Every single story of a meth lab explosion I have seen was evapping solvents. Of course, temp goes too high with an RPI reaction, lulz don't ensue. I mean, there are inherent risks for any method you use.


If you are an anhydrous ammonia fan, well, lol, you'd already know how bad THAT shit could fuck you up. And there are a million other routes, each with their own special little problems and perils.


And some one said something lately about having seen the notoriously DEA noted 100%+- d-meth via p2p and resolution of the racemates with tartaric acid.


And it was funny as fuck in the conversation too, this person happened to mention foot long shards. This old boy had a peek at a tiny bit for an insane price, and wow. I never thought I would see street meth that was actually better overall to pay a whopping 2bills a g on the corner.


But considering the rates back when I was actually in this kinda thing, and the purity of what was around, it's worth it. More total d-meth per $ street value.

When I do meth, I want to clean shit, and fix shit and build shit and make shit, and DO shit. Who knows what will happen next session. Maybe I'll invent a new computer operating system or build an oil rig with my bare hands.

hahaa nice. I only tried meth once and all i did is clean all my lab area, plan some new reactions and fixed the cable of my rotovap which was broken. I was never that productive in 1 day!

I made $300 about $200 taking the expenses into consideration but I could have made a business out of it if I had kept it up. $200 profit in one batch of soap thats not bad. I had to drive to another city to sell it but it was well worth it. The thing with soap is theres all sorts of fragrances and additives and different fats to use so its not hard to make something unique and if it smells good and has a good texture some shops will buy it.

I like the way you think, i myself have been working on flavours as of now and it has seen little profit on my side but learned a lot and it is very very intresting. I will make a thread about it, when i scale up what i am working on now :);)
