So I got hold of a $40 skateboard from kmart. I have never skated b4 so what would you recommend I do to make it half decent.

Keep in mind I don't think i will be getting into skating, just something to do for the next week or so.

If you're only gonna skate for a week or two don't invest any money into it. Just dick around with what you have.
