hey all,

say ive been doing random criminal activity ie:Stealing, dealing and i am caught..what am i expected to recieve as a first offense?

also if i have a criminal record, is it automatically erased when i turn 18 in Sydney Australia?

If i do have a criminal record can/will i be refused a Uni or college application?

will i be unable to leave the country?

any other downsides to a criminal record?

Your juvenile record is sealed at 18.

I don't believe that any educational institutions enquire as to the status of your criminal record. I've never seen any reference to it on any forms.

Unless you're currently facing charges or serving a sentence- where they'd confiscate your passport, you're quite free to leave the country, however, you may be denied entry to other countries based on your criminal record.

Downside wise- its a big black mark signifying that you're a fuckup :p

When I got busted for possession when I was 16 I took some diversionary program and I never even got a record, as in nothing to erase. At least thats how it was explained to me.

You could have your attorney petition the courts to have your record expunged.

*EDIT* I don't know Australian law but look into it anyway.

@OP:

I'm under 18 in australia atm and yep, pretty sure it get's totally stricken (ish) when you turn 18.

Not stricken like removed from any record in the world, but you're given a "clean slate" so to speak, just try not to fuck up again! :)
