View Full Version : Registration
It's that time of year again; registering for classes. For those of us about to embark on this journey, could the experienced among you tell us how you tend to register for your classes: do you....
Take as many classes as you can for your major?
Plan your 4 years ahead of time and figure out how many classes you can spare?
Decide on a regiment that fits you and fit classes into that?
Use some other method?
Discuss.

Take as many GE's as you can first. Not only does it get them out of the way, but it also lets you expand your interest to see if you want to major in anything else. Take some of you major classes too. Especially if you think you want to go down a path that requires ton of prerequisites, like pre-med.

I like to have some variety to my schedule. Last term I had the bulk of my classes later in the day on Mon Tues, a one class day on Wed, and a Four class mega day on thursday. This year I'm going to go for earlier classes bunched around the end of the week.

Right now, I have very little flexibility with my schedule. Most of my classes have only one time slot offered during the week, and no online classes at all.
For a few the classes are split into two or three sections, but even then they're mostly the same. Off the top of my head, I believe in one the only difference is that one section is M/W and the other two are both Tu/Th.

I'm taking the minimal classes I can for each of my majors (4), so I can actually complete both of them. I don't really have much wiggle room, as 6 out of 8 classes for the year are compulsory and I get to pick out of three for the last two. (Hurray! )
I didn't initially plan on doing a double major, but at the end of last year it was pointed out to me that the extra subjects I had done in Biochem and Microbiol were enough for my to attempt a major in either of them, along with my Genetics one. I picked Biochem. No particular reason.
And all of my subjects, bar one, this year have only been one stream. So I can't arrange my timetable to even out the workload, or even compensate for clashes - I have to miss the class.
It's a bit shit.

all my classes are cut out for me already, so i dont really have a choice, other that stuff like basic chemistry or higher chemistry and one elective to choose
so this year i did
math
math again (the second half)
design
physics (basic)
chemistry (advanced)
mining engineering (elective, other contenders were civil and mechanical)
materials application
programming (basic)
