I was wondering if anybody here has ever had any issues with ordering glassware off of ebay? i.e. The cops/feds/DEA showing up to investigate after a couple of months?
I keep hearing this is this case on other forums, but it seems a little unlikely. Has it ever happened to any of you, or someone you know?
The reason I ask is because I just pieced together a 24/40 distillation kit from a couple of different vendors there. Although I don't plan on using it for anything illegal (really), just wondering if I should be expecting a visit in the next few months.
Buddy got bunch of glass from there along with h2so4, hno3, toluene, glycerine, hexamine, waterproof fuse, tubes, cheap rc toys, solar igniter etc. not too long after 9/11. Not a single visit/letter/phone call/message from LE. There are too many people, and the list II chemicals and sold without paperwork having to be signed to protect the vendor and cover you from dea.
As long you dont buy "1lb crystal iodine CHEAP" along with "10,000 Match boxes LOT GREAT DEAL" and have your name all over wallgreens sudafed-lovers list. Buddy bought somniferum pods and glassware and hadn't had problems, but he realizes that it was stupid.

Ya just gotta go with the right seller. Some are good, and some of them are fronts. If it's too good to be true, some crazy rare piece you've only heard of, and at a REASONABLE price, you run straight the fuck away.
Also, avoid vendors who sell equipment for industrial, or larger scale operations.
There is nothing illegal at all about home chemistry. It is a legitimate hobby, and sometimes a few people choose to use it for what ever other reasons, and you have that with anything. We should ban cars.

Thanks. Thats what I figured. One of the reasons I bought it was to introduce my nephew to chemistry. He's showed some interest. Any good sites where I could find some "cool to a 14 year old" things to show/teach him?

American Science and Surplus has some of the least expensive kits and all kinds of misc. stuff all at give away prices. www.sciplus.com (http://www.sciplus.com). Perfect for nephew stuff. LOL
Just choose your cooking vessel carefully. Don't skimp on quality there or you will be sorry.
As far as e-bay goes, Many transactions and never a problem of any kind. When searching, say, glassware. Look for one that has an e-bay store to purchase from.

Right but certain types of glassware in the USA has been made illegal! Unbelievable, insane even but surprisingly true. I think 3-Necked flasks, separatory funnels etc are part of this weird ruling.
Actually, here's part of it:

...could be part of that program, 'Strange but True'. It seems that each generation feels it isn't acting responsibly if it is not drawing up more and more laws. From a system of law that was general and fairly easy to understand we are now in a position where laws have become incredibly complex and harder and harder to comprehend. America has some frightening laws and some crazily long sentences.
9/11, for example, was used to (as such events always are used) bring in laws that would NEVER have been passed under normal circumstances and which basically give the government the power to do anything it likes. 'tis a scary era indeed...
^ I believe that in most places in us these laws are like jaywalking laws, or these fucked up town ordinances that noone enforces. Around me all that equipment is sold without a question, online or not.
BTW I got 5 ebay sellers/stores that ive dealt with for any glass/equipment are trustworthy, and had best prices compared to rest of the shit on there. If its not against forum rules ill post them up (only sources for chemicals are not allowed here right?)
looks to me like its only illegal to have those things if youre "a registrant to distribute a controlled substance classified in schedule I or II"
amiright?

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was ok to post the names of the ebay stores so I didn't. But it's the store with their name in flames, they are probably one of, if not the biggest, glassware store on the bay.

Yeah, that's how things are preferred. You did excellent actually. Never use the actual name of any source for anything, now, big brands like walmart etc, and ebay, yeah, no biggie, but specific info as in, a certain seller named straight out is never a good idea.
This forum is watched. Do not doubt that for a single second. Everything you say here is being read by some asshole SOMEWHERE who would love nothing better than to kick down your door, take your home, all your possessions, your freedom, your children, as well as that of anyone around you who even looks involved, as well as bust the source, get their customer lists, and then go kick down 1000 more doors, and ruin even more lives.
It can all be made possible by simply saying the wrong thing. KNO3.com anyone? That place was a source, sold pretty much anything anyone needed in any quantity to anywhere. It was actually such a good source that it looked fishy as hell, almost too good to be true. But what happened was, word got out. They got busted and charged, customer lists seized and every single name and address was watched and tracked and studied with a large percentage ending up in some type of contact from law enforcement, if only to say, we know what you did (for the smaller fry guys) with a shit ton of people going down.
Then again, that was more the sources fault, because of THEIR actions. They were too blatant, and too good, and they even advertised on here for a bit.
^ Yep, EVERYONE in the UK on the customer records (which were not meant to have been kept in the first place...) received a nice visit from The Serious Crimes Squad. However, nobody got charged as nobody was making meth in the UK, the official report states that they were all Pyrotechnic enthusiasts and that they hadn't realised that the hobby was as popular as it is.
Meth has never really caught on in England and as such until recently (last year basically) most people had never even heard of it, let alone tried or produced it! No, England has always been the land of Amphetamine sulphate which although not as intense, is more of a happier, sociable, talkative speed and effects of which are shorter in duration compared to meth,

Yes, and it has happened at least once that I know of. Someone named boriskbg or something made a post about setting off a pressure device in public, and it also made the news, to which he posted the link, and laughed, saying he would give them a cookie if they found him.
A week later he came back feeling fucking retarded, and with another news link, saying how he got busted, etc.
They just warned him and shit, and scared him, but it shows what is possible.

Yes. Exactly. You need to be careful, and watchful, and know everything that is going to happen far in advance, and KNOW what is going on around you at all times, but at the same time, you can't let paranoia rule you, or you will never do anything, or you will be so worried that you fuck something up, which could very well end up fatal with this kind of hobby.
Yes you will get a visit from the DEA in a few weeks and will get locked up. To avoid this, send it all to me.
