Ok, i'm not a Christian, or even religious, but what a fucking nerve! It really is beggars belief the stinking turds which seem to flow freely from the mouths of some of these backwards bigots. Bill Hicks said: "women priests...?? Hey, that's just another set of people I wont be listening to!" or words to that effect, once. I couldn't give a crap about women in the CofE/Catholic Church, and indeed, the fact they're dilly-dallying around with it, is proof to me that Britain needs to be declared a secular society for once and for all, albeit one which accepts all religions.

It just gets me how the Vatican carry on, with their ominous threats about "obstacles for reconciliation" with the CofE. I'm not quite sure what's worse, Christians burning each other at the stake and causing war all 'round Europe, or the let's-agree-to-disagree attempts to live in the magical land of rainbows, for ever. Possibly the former, but I digress... people seem far too willing to let the Vatican babble on in it's backward way. No one's telling them to stop fucking around in Africa with their propaganda about condoms, or to sell up the gold in St Peter's and use it for good Christian Charity.

Anyway i'm rambling away. What do you guys think...?

The Catholic Church has always worked very hard to promote the oppression of women.

So, what else is new?

I mean, good grief, the new pope's last job was Grand Inquisitor--fat chance of seeing any significant change during his regime.

To be honest I couldn't care less what the Vatican says, I mean no one forces you do be religious let alone a Catholic, I really don't see why women should be allowed to be ordained, I mean in their interpretation Jesus only choose men to be apostles and that's why women have so far been prevented from becoming priests.

I mean all religions on earth have those sorts of regulations, women can't be rabbi according to the Orthodox interpretation of Judaism, they can't become imams either and the incarnation of buddha can only be a man in Tibetan buddhism and that's why the dalai lama has always been male.

The vatican just usually attracts more criticism for being backwards even if they're not the exception, it's just that Catholicism hasn't been that trendy lately.

If the Dalai Lama was ever to get back into power he would bring Tibetan society to the old traditions, where slavery was legal, young girls could be sold as sex slaves and where women where barred from having any sort of schooling.

Since the Chinese liberated the country, literacy levels went up, women started getting equal treatment in the workplace and can now access education, still Tibetan buddhism has great appeal on Hollywood so you never hear about its backwardness or treatment of women.

Iran or the Pope are easier targets.

Sorry for the anti-Tibet rant, but lately I've been reading a lot about the Dalai Lama and the more I read the more I find out that he's not what the Western media likes to portray, seriously the free Tibet movement has a darker side.
