I'm looking to travel as much as I can on my time off, although I've begun college so it's going to be much, much harder. But I'm extremely interested in joining an organization over my summers that could help pay for the expenses, and in return I'd be willing to do any type of humanitarian work in whichever country I'm sent to. Something like the Peace Corps, but with a shorter obligation term. Anyone know of groups like this that don't make you pay to go with them? I don't want compensation, either. Just the chance to see other parts of the world and maybe make even a bit of a change.

If you're religious there are a metric fuckload of organisations that "help" in 3rd world countries.

Maybe, Oxfam, Red Cross or something like that?

I was thinking about oxfam. And I'm not particularly religious. I mean, I do believe in God, and I attended a catholic school for 14 years so I do know more than enough about what I need to know, although I was baptized Methodist. I'd consider myself a non-denominational Christian of sorts. Does MSF accept workers from the US? I'm in Texas.

MSF does support all nationalities, providing you have a good command of English. I also think they like people who can speak Arabic or Russian.
