other wise boil em' down in heet in the micro. just when the "solution" is just about dried up goopy, splash some acetone on it and it'll `crack back pretty clean. clean enough to whoop em up if you already denatured them.

Depends on which route would, theoretically speaking, to be followed. If Ammonia is to be used then one can get away with an unbelievable amount of gak (it has been known for persons to just chuck straight pills in as is - Gup Chucking); however, if the RP/I route is to be followed it's a different story - RP n I is very sensitive to gaks or even fairly innocuous additives.

Best to test on foil to see how it burns. RP/I can handle a bit of crap but not much. On the foil, ideally, it should melt to a clear liquid and start smoking, keep heating until all is vaporised and check for any marking to the foil or carbon residues.

Anything other than a black mark with no carbon residue or the tiniest amount, is not good enough. Sometimes the melting pse liquid may go yellow, this is also a sign of resident crap but the main indication is at the end when checking for residues.


*Micro membrane filters are good for aqueous extractions but think aqueous extracting was stopped in the USA many moons ago but may be worth a try on 5 pills to see.
Also, when doing alcohol extractions, after it has evapped use minimal alcohol (enough to redissolve the pse only, use less than what is believed to be available, one can always add more) to disolve the pse once again and it will force out any other crap as pse loves alcohol and should dissolve first. One can then filter crap out, works with all solvents but check solubility (it may be that the gak has a better solubility than pse in some solvents, in which case you can use ultra minimal solvent to isolate crap and leave pse undissolved) - one will see whether the pse dissolves first.

*MEK boil by Geez is said to be affective...

thanks guys, especially tom, ended up with about 2 and a half out of a possible 5 gms, did a small push pull using a 250ml flask and a mason jar, let it go for a few hours, got about 1.5 grams of good clean, and very potent crystals, 1/5th gram of IV injection made SWIM feel the hair on his genitals grow, good work gentlemen!

swim might go looking for AA, but doesn't know where to start, idea's would be appreciated.

Just as the AA/Li reduction will power through many gakks, so will a LiAlH4 reduction, and man, all that is, is just work. Everything is there right at damn near any grocer and hardware store, you just gotta do the work to get it all together to make a sufficient amount, and it's been said that it can be reacted in diethyl ether. Though, ideally, I believe THF is the medium of choice, which can be distilled from a number of pipe dope plumbing rubber type of cement. Read labels. Seriously. Labels.


Every label in every store. Great thing to do when tweeking too, bring a note pad with you, you can make notes to yourself, price conc brand location etc.


You would be simply fucking amazed at the things they say we shouldn't have, but then we are given freely just because some makeup company decided to use one chemical in a series instead of the next, or some similiar shit. care to explain to a layman the details of this reaction? i understand that it occurs in THF and LiAlH4 is the reducing agent to strip that hydroxyl group off the (pseudo)ephedrine molecule...but could you go into more detail? i hate hate hate hate having to ask this because i want to be able to research it for myself, but for lack of a better explanation, i just don't know that to put into google.

what about post reaction? acid/base and recrystallize?

a sort of rhodium-style writeup would be extremely interesting and i would be very greatful. i'm not asking for a step 1, step 2, step 3 deal, because i'm not an idiot, but more of a this much of this was added to this and so on and so forth.

Oh dude I did that entire reaction from start to finish on paper, and went over it a million times over like, a years time, thinking it was something that I made up and discovered myself, only to find a ref to the thing later, everything the same, except I chose THF as opposed to the refs ether.


I have everything on hard copy for this, and it's been a couple years since then, so I have no idea where it is, or the link.
